There's a tendency to coddle women a lot more. When a guy is fat, you just bluntly put that to him. When it's a woman, you avoid that topic at all costs.

Whereas men are conditioned to suck it up and accept the truth for what it is, women are spared a bit more thought for their feelings.

Yep "plus size model" bandwagon is just plain wrong.

Show a fat man with 3 hot girls lurking at him and you'll have mockery and/or outrage.

True enough. I'm sure a reason a girl doesn't want to date a guy CAN be because he's overweight. Vice versa? No.

There really isn't nearly as much pressure. If you look at the media and celebrities for example I think you'd find far more male celebrities who are fat than women. The pressure is there much more for women, but they've also got more people to tell them that they're beautiful just how they are.

You wouldn't see that. That would put females in such a bad light that it's would be sexist.

If you see a fat man with 3 hot girls after him you assume he has a very full bank account.

Pressure? Guess who's buying body products for billions every year? Guys. Gym? Getting big? Six pack?

Hmm.. dunno. So far everything's pretty anecdotal. It seems to me being a fat girl is much more acceptable. Aren't there more and more plus sized models being revered as some revolutionary change to the fashion industry?

While fat guys are just seen as basement dwelling nerf herders too lazy to shave their mountains of shoulder hair and seem like they never shower? Again, purely anecdotal. I have yet to see plus sized male models as far as I'm aware.

Also some of this. Seems like a man being fat is just outright gross and a walking sign of judgment waiting to be assumed on. A fat girl seems to be like some girl who is either having a tough time, or just a girl who is different, breaking them social norms yo, she fine.

There is a HUGE night and day difference between overweight and obese. It's possible for someone to be too skinny for one. And you can get into overweight territory without being obese and without being unattractive.

Media acts like you're either "fat" or "thin" and there's nothing in between, and that's not true.

I agree. Maybe not horribly obese...but sligthly/just fat? That is definitely more acceptable as a guy.

Oh, I don't sympathize really. I used to work about 12 hours per day, 7 days per week. I still found time to at least do some cardio, cook something at home, do errands, have some kind of social life, and play WoW.

Slightly more on topic: I've found that Target and JC Penny sometimes have jeans in 30 waist, 36 inseam. I snap those up whenever I see them.

Because women who are fat - to a certain extent - can still be hot. Men will just look out of shape. Main attractions to women are often tits, ass and legs, and those all become bigger when you get fatter.

And there's also the fact that with women the fat tends to actually go places. A lot of men like women with curves and curves are in fact made out of fat. So it's very subjective where the line between fat and curvy is drawn. Having a bit more body fat can in fact play into the average man's idea of an attractive woman, but perhaps less so for men.

I would assume the girls can befriend him because they know he knows it'll never happen.

Yeah, even someone who's not just overweight, but downright disgusting, like Gabourey Sidibe has people that say she's beautiful. Of course, she also has a lot more haters than men would. Such is life.

Well there's typically "relaxed," "loose," and "slim" cuts of the same style of pants and that's before you even get into materials; denim and other pure cotton weaves are usually cut larger to account for shrinkage which may not actually occur, while artificial fabrics and blends are cut less generously. Depending on the way the fabric is weaved, it may have more or less give to it as well, which affects not only the actual fit of the garment but the perception of it as well. There's also "vanity sizing" where the item of clothing is actually the next size up (which for pants is typically two more inches in the waist for men) to make shoppers feel better about themselves.

As for the OP's premise, I disagree. Nobody tells John Goodman to lose weight, meanwhile how many diets has Oprah been on? Exactly.

OMG 13:37 - Then Jesus said to His disciples, "Cleave unto me, and I shall grant to thee the blessing of eternal salvation."

And His disciples said unto Him, "Can we get Kings instead?"
