Yeah, I know that's the only realistic option, but being raised in the system is really shit as well. If the rape was just a one-off thing (as callous as that sounds), I honestly think staying with the mother would be better.

The system is shit because it doesn't have enough money. It doesn't have enough money because the tax budget doesn't allow for it. We need to up taxes to pay for it if that's what it takes. There are enough people to adopt. Every child that is born and raised by it's parents could have been an adopted child instead. Saying this now, a ton of people will be like "Yeah but I would never want to adopt and neither would many other people" - and that's exactly where the money needs to go. Sales, sales, sales. It's no different to selling a service. If I want to start... I dunno, a cleaning company. Many people clean their own homes themselves. I'm always going to get business from the people who can't do it themselves (time constraints, disabilities, etc) but that can't make up all your business, you have to sell yourself and convince people who originally were just going to do it themselves that they would rather pay you to do it for them.

Selling costs money though. You need to pay for adverts or pay for competent sales staff etc, but good salespeople can convince people of virtually anything, and the best sales people make you think they didn't convince you of anything and that you came up with the idea all by yourself.
