I check my alarm like 10 times before I go to bed. I straighten out things at stores and will even walk all the way across Target to put an item back that I find sitting on the wrong shelf. I spent thousands of dollars replacing all of my appliances so they'd be the same brand. I bought a new blu-ray player so that it would be the same brand as my TV. I buy all ASUS computer parts then bought an ASUS router so it matches even though I didn't need a new router.

I'm not OCD, I just like things organized and matching.

my girlfriend is making me this way because she likes to sneak up on me and scare me. She also likes to take advantage of the fact that I'm slightly afraid of the dark, especially open darkness (think a long dark hallway), and my bedroom door being open while we sleep.

But that is not OCD or anything of the such, I'm just terrified of being killed/abducted. Especially by ghosts that I don't believe in, but still scare me lol. I'm a rational person, I swear!

I am a bit bad with symmetry in some areas. For example, when watching a video online, I always try to place the cursor in the bottom middle of the screen, and it bugs me when that causes the little bar on the bottom to not go away. Placing the cursor on one side or the other bothers me. Sometimes to the extent of moving the cursor back and forth between the two sides to try and 'balance it out'. Same goes with bodily things. Scratch one elbow, gotta scratch the other. Breath on my left arm, gotta do the same to the other. Tilt or twist my head in one direction, yep, gotta do the same in the other direction.

Also have problems with being rubbed the wrong way. Like I can't rub my arm from the hand to the elbow; it just bothers me. Same goes for pretty much everything. If I sit down in a chair with a back it bothers me if the chair rubs upwards on my back, so I gotta make it run downwards.

Also have a problem with certain small or precise things. Things like struggling to put a thread through a needle's eye, struggling to pick up a very small or very flat piece of something off of a surface, trying to fill in a scantron bubble all the way and not quite being able to get that last little sliver filled in. Get sorta panicky when I can't get those kinds of things.

Lots of weird little things like that that have bothered me since I can remember.

Thank you nixx. It's really unhelpful to say anything and everything "is OCD, colloquially" because it buries the actual meaning of it, and it's already something that isn't taken seriously enough by people. People try and talk about their actual problems with this, and like... Well, if someone was talking about their OCD and you were like "Yeah I know what you mean! I'm really OCD about brushing my teeth, I have to do it after I eat ANYTHING hahaa" it could be hurtful, because they are trying to explain themselves to you and you're just dismissing it as a habit. There are people who get things with like, having to brush their teeth 20 times on a night every night and if they lose count, start again, and having thoughts you can't control that are going on all the while and won't stop until it's done, but yeah sure you feel a bit icky if you don't brush your teeth after lunch, cool.

Like if someone was talking about hearing voices telling them they are worthless and they should kill themselves or hurt their family or this or that, people would never turn around and be like "Yeah, sometimes when I've eaten too much or not done enough exercise and im feeling pretty bummed about how it's going to affect my weight, sometimes I'll beat myself up a bit over it on a night"

I made a similar thread ages ago, turned into just a load of pages of people obsessing over the use of OCD.

Always trying to be as efficient as possible in everything i do, from entering my building, closing the door, getting into the elevator, having the right key ready for my house door in my hand as fast as possible, always economizing time. Cannot possibly fathom the possibility in wasting even 1 second, for example waiting in the queue in the supermarket behind someone who's taking ages in paying etc. I'm also an order freak, the good thing about this is that i never lose ANYTHING, i always know where everything is.

My hands. Nails, whether long or short, have to be kept to a uniform length and shape, so if one breaks, they all get cut and filed until they're the same again. Cuticles are kept moisturised and pushed back so they're neat and tidy, hang nails are immediately trimmed (though I get them rarely), always moisturise my hands after washing them as I can't stand dry skin on my hands. If nail polish chips I have to remove it all asap and feel self conscious about it until then.
It's weird because I have no qualms about going out without make up, etc, but absolutely cannot stand my hands being in anything other than great condition.

Maybe not really OCD but I can't handle when stuff in the shelfs at stores aren't lined up perfectly. But I guess that is an old work habit.

Can you imagine two people with actual OCD living together? And one person's compulsions causes the other person to compulse, which affects the first person again!
Sounds like the plot of a bad rom-com TV movie.

Anyways, so I have some habits that are a bit OCD. As an example, I cannot leave my house or my car without physically touching my keys. I have to have them in my hands before I close the door. It isn't enough to know they are in my pocket, or to feel them in my pocket against my leg, I have to actually touch them.

This is actually the result of locking myself out of my car, with my phone in the car, at an interstate rest stop.

I also cannot leave a hotel room, without double checking my wallet for my key cards.

I have to have my phone, wallet, and keys in specific pockets, or I freak out. It's bad. Like sometimes I'll put them in my jacket pocket and then feel anxious later because they ar
I call that the "man-check." Front right pocket, keys and phone. Front left pocket, smokes and lighter. Rear right pocket, wallet. Rear left pocket, money clip. I do that every time I stand up, or before I leave a building or room.

I also do this. I find myself facing products often. Then wondering if I should bill the store for my freelance services.

As well, I always face UPCs towards the cashier.

Getting good sleep is the most important thing with regards to staying healthy and keeping a strong immune system. I'd rather be late, screw you all.

I'm OCD about not being OCD...

but seriously... I have a lot of habits, but nothing that causes me anguish or distress if they are not done.

I say 'wallet, keys, phones' to myself when leaving my apartment... basic common sense, especially the keys, as I've locked myself out a few times. Partially solved by hidden spare key now, but I still do it. Yes, 2 phones (work, personal), except when leaving in evening or weekends, then work phone is left at home
