Anything you haven't bought as a toy for your cat.

Laser pointer is the greatest thing ever. However, do give them a reward for playing with it (like a treat), since the inability to catch it can stress them.

    Best $4 I've ever spent.

A nice cardboard box that is big enough to fit two adult cats.

Our likes the following a lot:

They are super lightweight, yet be able to throw a distance and completely harmless incase the cat gets it thrown in his/her face.

Something like this is fun if you want to play with the cat

Try and ensure the string is both elastic and strong, so it doesn't break.

If its just something for the cat to play with, my cat particularly loved a little felt mouse which had dry rice or something inside so it would rattle when she shook it. It was bloody annoying to be woken up by it, so not recommended if a light sleeper but she loved it for ages (until it ended up in the water bowl and whatever was inside refused to rattle anymore).

When ours gets a hold of that string it's broken in 3 seconds.

    One of these:

When: Early AM (when human is asleep)
Where: an open bathroom door, and easy access to the bathtub
Why: loads of fun, it's a great early alarm system for your human.

In all seriousness... don't buy anything. You can make toys they will enjoy just as much for practically nothing... except the lazer pointer, and some cats actually don't like them.

Rule of thumb: the more it costs, the less likely they are to play with it.

Yeah we had a few "prototype" ones we had picked up cheap. Then at christmas one of my partners friends gave us a really good strong one and its great Cat leaps metres off the ground trying to catch it
