2560x1440 is referred to as the sweet spot for gaming by many. So with all the newly released and upcoming monitors of this resolution, and the ever decreasing cost of adaptive sync technologies, it's becoming harder to decide on the best gaming monitor.

For most, the perfect gaming monitor-simplified-would include: 144Hz, Adaptive sync technology, 1ms response time and an IPS panel. There are no such monitors currently to my knowledge, although there are some that come very close, so i have complied a list of freesync and g-sync displays closely matching this cireteria.

I will personally be waiting to see the pricing of the MG279Q and check out reviews on it and the other freesync options, as the price step between the two Acer options isn't worth it in my opinion(I don't value IPS panels too highly). TLDR:What do you think the best 1440p gaming monitor is?

None, in terms the overall cost of a PC for a 1440p monitor is too high, i mean, a single 970 is below 50 FPS on most new games, programmed or not, ports or not.

For those that have the money, i mostly recommend BenQ, i like them, they are priced decently usually.

Apart from that AoC had a decent 1440p monitor come out recently ?and the Acer you linked isnt bad also.

I wouldnt recommend the Gsync, i think its a bit of a "scam" in what it provides so i wouldnt use it as a measure of whether to buy a screen or not.

Then again, Remillia knows more on the subject but from my side BenQ all the way.

I realize this is on the lower end of the spectrum, but sub 300 bucks for a 1440p screen that has a warranty (not a sketchy model from korea) is quite appealing:

Its also a preferable 25 inches (to me at least). Im gonna keep an eye on this one, it may be my next monitor.

It's a fantastic price for a 4ms, 1440p, IPS monitor when you consider the price of the PB278Q, looks very promising.

I'd go with the 144Hz AHVA, aka the MG279Q or XB270HU.

TN panels don't actually have 1ms response without glaringly bad overdrive artifacts. The best you'll get with it is about 3ms average with okay amounts of overdrive artifact. Not to also mention that manufacturers can quote just one pixel transition that's the fastest.

The AUO AHVA 144Hz one already manages a 5ms average response without artifacts which is great and really not going to be noticeable to people. Any blur or ghosting is pretty much going to be the same especially with an overdrive artifact from the aforementioned panels.

Think you mean MG279Q, considering how old the PB278Q is. It's the one that I'd probably be picking up and probably test to post here.
It's slated for Q2 supposedly but still no concrete price and time.

I meant the PB278Q as it was just the closest thing I could think to compare it to. Are you waiting for the MG279Q as it's IPS, as opposed to the other freesync options which are TN? I'm looking forward to your review of the MG279Q!

PB278Q doesn't have a quoted 4ms pixel response which is why I asked.

Also my review wouldn't be as good as say, tftcentral or prad.de. I'm not spending thousands on equipments, heh... They have more professional gear. I'm using i1 Display Pro as they're using i1 Pro.
I won't be recording lag as that's impossible with my equipment but anything else should be fine.

I would recommend waiting for AMD´s Freesync and the up coming monitors that will be released. You can buy a Gsync/or none and after 4-6 months, new tech will arrive. So i would say just w8. Not to mention amds next gen gpu are not far from release.

If you're not careful, you'll be waiting forever, because new tech is always coming.

Buy when something fits the bill of what you like and you can afford it.

I've personally been waiting for an IPS-like non-Korean 1440p monitor with 120-144Hz.

G-Sync will be a bonus!
