You have to watch Steven Universe, its da bomb, bebeh. Also I just read HERE that someone asked a writer or something if Ruby and Sapphire's relationship was romantic or platonic. Can't believe they had to ask after Sapphire kisses away Ruby's tears. Couldn't be more obvious than that.

Garnet is made of love, after all! A experience! And her relationship is... Ehr... I don't know.... not carbon-based at least. Hard to understand if they are like the best best friends ever or they love eachother in a romantic way. I belive it is platonic. But a very strong relationship.VERY strong.

It's a gem. Rose loved Greg. Pearl was apparently in love with another gem too. Amethyst was a very good friend of Rose. The other two Crystal Gems were in love and in a fusion. The status of their relationship is not important at all to me - after all, love is awesome. I just don't know how Gem relationship works, but imo, it's a veeery open topic. Now that I saw the writer tweet, I think it is romantic. Lovely stuff. I wonder if Pearl had romantic feelings too.

But, see: They are Gems! I don't even know why they are in a humanoid form since they can shapeshift into other stuff!

For anyone who's caught up with the show, I'd recommend watching Full Disclosure and Rose's Scabbard back to back. The way they set up the parallel between Pearl and Steven / Steven and Connie is pretty great.

Anyone else notice in "Joking Victim" how when Sadie was talking about how her and Lars stayed up all night and how great it was, then Steven says something like "That must have been SOME video game", she turns away awkwardly, looking around? I wonder if they just made out all night or had sex? See, there's a lot of stuff that kids wouldn't pick up on in the show, and because its subtly implied, there's always plausible deniability, but its there for those who pay attention.

On a side note I really hope they bring back Lapis Lazuli, I think she's a pretty awesome character with a great sad backstory.

I can't say I know much about Rebecca Sugar, but based on Steven Universe I'm tempted to say that people like her are why I used to call myself a feminist. People like FullMcIntosh and Ben Kuchera and LW and Banana Who are why I never will again.

I think the implication was only that Sadie was more interested in Lars than the game. If that weren't the case, I don't think Sadie would have been nearly as angry that Lars had "tricked" her in to kissing him when they were stuck on that island together.

That's an excellent point, and one that I had thought of before. It could go either way, but I'm inclined to believe the most they did was cuddle and maybe cheek peck based on her reaction on the island. Still, a LOT of subtext for any show, let alone one that's (at least superficially) for children.

All this stuff gets some heavy censorship where I live. They cut stuff like the comments that happened on the island, Pearl talking how Rose was and blushing... Damn , a cartoon character can't even say the word "butt" in Brazil without the censorship cops removing the voice!

I'm trying to, but I'm really noob at that stuff. Tried watching some on youtube, but they have to change something on the image to bippass the block. At least I got on part with all the Peridot stuff, start to escape pod.

The Genesis of some of the gems is also something really interesting. Stuff like how amathyst was created, fairly recently on the earth at kindergarten. That and how Jasper said she was "overcooked" and that pearl was "[i]a [/i] defective pearl" implying that both of them are somehow mass produced or that they are distinct classifications of gems. .

If nothing else, the world building of this show is just sublime from the people to relationships to hem culture itself.

So far I've only seen Steven use his shield once. I hope he has progression growing up like Finn in Adventure Time and slowly develops his powers etc.

Yeah, Australia seems pretty backwards when it comes to censorship. They banned small boob porn and Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude ffs. It wouldn't surprise me to learn that they won't air episodes of SU because of a lesbian kiss scene or something equally trivial.
