Try to build muscle - even "converting" a little of the fat to muscle is a good thing.
As others above have said - you can't "target" fat loss. What you CAN do though, is target your abs/chest for strengthening/toning. It won't LOOK much different as long as layers of fat cover it, but a good foundation is never a bad thing, and once the fat IS gone - say HI to the new 8-pack staring back at you from the mirror.
Any responsible nutritionist will tell you that there is really no such thing as a food you cannot eat. Just learn moderation. Obviously, if you are looking to change your body shape - there are foods you should consider avoiding - however you can succeed by only modifying your diet/exercise regime. Consume 10% less, exercise 10% more, and you will achieve results (of course - that figure is rather prone to fluctuation - if a person is putting ON fat - then a simple 10% change may not suffice - however if weight is static - then that will achieve the goal) This will NOT be fast - however lifestyle changes like this shouldn't be rapid.
Good luck on your quest for health!
