    Gruul tactics?

We are about to attempt Mythic Gruul tonight, and i heard someone say he's changed from when BRF was intialy released? Is this true? If so, what is the best/standard tactic right now?

    3 Tanks, 3 Camps.

Every Camp takes 1 Inferno Slice
Every Tank takes 2 Inferno Slices, and then tanks the Boss.

Tank A -> Boss (out of camp)
Tank B taunts Slice 1, A Taunts back. Group 1 takes Dmg.
Tank B taunts Slice 2, keeps Boss. Group 2 takes Dmg.
    _______________
Tank B -> Boss, move out of Camps.
Tank C taunts Slice 3, B Taunts back. Group 3 takes Dmg.
Tank C taunts Slice 4, keeps Boss. Group 1 takes Dmg.
    _______________
Tank C -> Boss, move out of Camps.
Tank A taunts Slice 5, C Taunts back. Group 2 takes Dmg.
Tank A taunts Slice 6, keeps Boss. Group 3 takes Dmg.
    _______________
    Repeat.

Make a spreadsheet for your tanks, so they can learn this rotation.
Because its not always a full rotation of slices, the tanks wont be in the same spots every time.

    Ignore that. It's nonsense.

    2 tanks, 3 groups.

Tank A tanks and tank B goes to group A. Taunts when Gruul does the Slice and Tank A taunts back.
tank B goes to group B and repeat
Repeat at C, but tank B keeps Gruul and moves to the tank spot.

Now Tank A does what Tank B did.

No group will get more than 1 stack and you have an extra dps instead of 3 tanks, making the enrage easier to beat.

    Grats on your easy kill.

We used this for our first attempts, and it seriously over-complicates things. 2 tanks 3 camps (7 in 2 camps, 4 in 1 camp with soakers) is almost the same, 2 in 1 camp, 2 in the next and the 3rd camp as people who can soak massive damage (we use 2 rogues and 2 mages).

The 3 tank method never makes sense, just 2 tank it.

Actually just make 3 groups of 6 people.

Either works, but we found having soakers in the 3rd further minimized the damage from slice. 7 people = less damage overall, and the 3rd group pretty much makes that slice pointless, never see my mages or rogues go below 90% hp during the slice.

Guess that would work yeah, obviously based on the set-up of your group.

The debuff won't wear off that way.

It does, it only lasts 30seconds and he doesnt regen energy while casting the ability, so it just bout runs off.

How odd; wasn't dropping off when we tried it so we do the usual thing of 2 stacks on two groups at times and 3 on an immunity group.

Think we will be going with 3 groups of 6 people, maybe go with a soak group if needed. Another thing i was wondering about, he does 6. slices, then go into the cave-in phase, and then start doing 6 slices again. If you use a 3 minute cooldown on the first slice, will it be up for the 7. slice again? The first one after the cave-in phase.

    We two tanked it.

Check our kill video here and look at the angry assignments on the top left from the PoV character. Purple= regular big group. Green= regular big group. Blue= immunity group.

We did 3 tanks and swapped tanks after each slice. This way the tank never takes a 'increased damage' slice.

So: Triangle group, Square group, Moon group
and: Triangle tank, Square tank, Moon tank

    Moon tank starts on boss
    slice:
    1) Triangle tank taunts on triangle group-->moves to tank boss
    2) Square tank taunts on square group-->move to tank boss
    3) Moon tank taunts on moon group-->moves to tank boss
    4-6) Repeat 1-3
    7-9) Repeat 1-3
    ----Rampage phase----
Moon tank starts on boss again
    Slice:
    Repeat above.

It's not really neccesary but it makes the fight a complete joke because tanks never need externals to survive. The dps check is irrelevant at this point anyway. We killed him with 2 dps dying halfway the fight.

That's for normal/heroic. In Mythic he does 8-10 slices (usually 9).

He only ever does 9 slices. If he does 10 you're not soaking with enough people so he regains energy.

    1 Tank.
Tank A) stands alone while the rest of the raid sits behind the boss like a pet.
    Healers heal. DPS DPS.
    Gruul dies.

Tank A is a newly dinged 630 monk in dungeon gear btw.

    Monks are balanced.

    2 tanks, 5 heals.

3 groups of 6 people (excluding tanks), lets call them group A, B, C

Tank 1 taunts the boss to spread the Slice on group A, then group B, then group C. CD on the tank 1 when he eats the 3d slice (it hurts)
then Tank 2 taunts the boss to spread the Slice on group A, then B, then C. CD also on the third slice if needed.

SUPER EASY. Dont over complicate it, no need 3 tanks, no need "soakers" or whatever.
Although you may hate it if you dont have a disc priest in your raid. This shit is broken.

We saved this boss for fifth due to the gear check. After the ilvl hotfix we killed him in six or seven pulls onour first night of attempts. Took three or so pulls to get positioning right. One for a tank dc, one for tanks taunting at the wrong time, one for a healer getting too close to the tank and then the kill.

Do two tanks with three groups of six. It's easy.
