Question dmg modifiers on spells with travel time

    Hi,

i have a question about when dmg modifiers apply, is it at the end of the cast or when the spell lands ?

For example if i am casting a chaos bolt, finish the cast right before dark soul ends but dark soul is gone by the time it lands on the target, does dark soul apply or not ?

Thanks in advance, kinda new to playing casters so hope you can help me

everything is applied when the spell leaves your hands, travel time dosnt matter

It's when you complete the cast, so in that example you'll get a buffed Chaos Bolt.

Hand of Gul'dan is an exception. Damage modifier apply when it lands, so 1.5 second after cast.

I did not know that. The travel time is so fast as it does not seem to matter, I tried several time to cast a CW at the last second of a proc and it took the damage modifier. However, you can cast CW and then use DS around 1 second later and it seems to work.

Think that applies to the DoT, but not the impact damage.

Don't take my word for it, do the test.

Also worth noting, target buffs/debuff apply at impact. So if a spell is on the way, then the target goes immune, your spell will also not trigger on the target.
