Who are we? (a little bit TL;DR)

Long after some of us witnessed the crowning of the Scarab Lord or had proven themselves worthy to be the Hands of A’dal, the game moved towards Icecrown.
Yet the will to fight began to abandon many raiders across the high-ranked guilds on Aerie Peak who had competed against one another in end-game PvE raiding since Vanilla.

Some of those who stuck around decided to create Dianthus.

Dianthus are a guild of ex-hardcore raiders who realised after a long time of committing themselves to defeat whatever Blizzard put in their way, that they were no longer able to maintain that schedule with real-life commitments.

Instead of quitting the game we created a community for like-minded individuals to raid together without needing to devote a large amount of time to it each week. Efficiency was the key to our future success.

In our beginning, towards the end of the Wrath of the Lich King expansion we worked to get ourselves the "Glory of the Icecrown Raider” achievement and mount.

In Cataclysm we maintained a rank in the server top 20 and were the 5th guild on Aerie Peak to complete the "Glory of the Firelands Raider” achievement.

Despite a rocky start we came back strong in Mists of Pandaria and climbed up in the top 10% bracket in Throne of Thunder.

After that a lot of us felt the need for a break. And with that eventually we ended up taking a pause from raiding leading up to Warlords of Draenor.

But we came back strong leading up to the release and here we are.

Finding ourselves in the common position of having to transition from 10-man raiding in Pandaria to 20-man Mythic Raiding in Draenor hasn’t been easy.
Despite this we have defeated everything bar Blackhand in Heroic and we are now eager and determined to expand our ranks to face the challenge of Mythic raids.

How we are organised and what we aim to achieve

Instead of having a guild leader the guild is managed by a council. This used to be called "partners", with many of the original creators of the guild having this rank.

But over time the partnership grew to be too big to manage the guild efficiently and we evolved into a council-system, with willing raiders organising various areas of the guild such as raid leading, recruitment, raider assessment and guild asset management.

In Dianthus we aim to raid in a focused progression-oriented environment without having to dedicate a considerable amount of our lives to it. However this requires those who raid with us to be committed, to know their class well, are willing to get involved in discussions on progression and can respond positively to constructive criticism. We also provide our own style of humour and inside jokes, but this is put aside whenever our raid leader requires us to focus at the task in hand.

We assess our progress by making use of Warcraft Logs, a great tool for analysing any raid group.

Our current plan is to establish a strong raiding team of 3 Tanks, 7 Healers, 7 Melee dps and 12 Ranged dps (as main spec) ready to hit Mythics hard. And for this we just need to fill the ranks with the right people.

9/10 Heroic Blackrock Foundry (Blackhand to 45%)

When do we raid?

We raid three times a week, on Thursdays, Sundays & Mondays from 20:00-23:00 server time, with a short break every hour.
Invites to the raid are sent out 20 minutes prior to start, with first trash pulled at 20:00.

We require our raiders to attend at least 2 of the 3 raids every week.

High: Death Knight (Blood) / Monk (Brewmaster)
Medium: Warrior (Prot)
Low: Paladin (Prot)

Healers:
High: Disc Priest
Medium: Mistweaver Monk
Low: Resto Druid / Holy Paladin

Melee:
High: Death Knight / Windwalker Monk
Medium: Feral Druid / Enhancement Shaman
Low: Ret Paladin / Warrior

Ranged:
High: Hunter / Mage / Warlock
Medium: Balance Druid / Elemental Shaman
Low: Shadow Priest
