Aren't we Generals when we create a T3 garrison? Tbh I'd like to see us become recognised within our factions hierarchy, rather than just be adventurers/mercenaries. Like we're now a mililtary leader who takes over Admiral Taylor/General Nazgrim's roles. Alternatively, I wouldn't mind seeing us break away from our factions in a ME2 fashion, where we still work with our factions but do what needs to be done and what they can't or refuse to do.

Well, given the cinematics, I believe we currently are generals; those ranks do not go away unless something REALLY bad happens. As in, something really bad done by the general themselves. As for the garrison, however...
I wouldn't be surprised if pre-Next-expansion-event saw it destroyed. Blizzard has a tendency to destroy things that players worked on.
