WalMart shuts down 5 stores just hours after informing employees for plumbing issues.

I really want to put quotes around "plumbing issues."

    The stores shut down are:
    Livingston, Texas
    Midland, Texas
    Tulsa, Oklahoma
    Pico Rivera, California
    Brandon, Florida

This is suspicious for a few reasons

    1. The most obvious is the not telling of employees until just hours before the closings.
    2. The same exact response was given for all 5 stores.
    3. None of the businesses which operate inside the WalMarts were given any notification before hand.

That sucks a lot of lost jobs with no notice what so ever.

Three of those are pretty close to where I live...so while this is unfortunate, I'm glad it didn't happen in my town.

Expect a lot more stores to close as internet shopping becomes the new convenient thing to do.

What makes this a little bit more personal for me, is that the Livingston one is one of the first WalMarts I can remember going to. Some of my family live in the rural areas in a triangle from Livingston to Cleavland to Liberty and that was the one they went to before the Cleavland one opened.

The Livingston closure also hurts the worst. Livingston is pretty much one of those rural cities where WalMart killed most of the other businesses and is the city's biggest employer, and most of the employees and customers would have to drive over 30 miles one way just to even reach another one.

The only thing that helps WalMart's case for this store is that the damned thing has been there forever and only had a facelift.

Walmart employs a bunch of kids at minimum wage. Stores that close like this do so to avoid having employees steal, vandalize, etc.

One of the unfortunate side effects of hiring the lowest rung of the ladder in terms of the working population.
