Thanks. It seems my choice is being made for me.

Without using teh googles myself, I would say search for a support group for amputees and see if you could find someone who was in a similar situation to yourself, and ask if they regret getting the limb removed. At least you would be dealing apples to apples , instead of MMOC theorycrafters, myself included.

    Well I'd keep my leg.

Got it amputated last Wednesday. I flipped a quarter. I don't regret it yet.

Do you happen to talk to anyone who had an amputation before by chance?

    I'm ex-military, ex-PSC I've talked to a lot about amputations.

    Edit

just read the dates and now 2nd page. My advise was to get the amputation if you are a very active person and also do sports. But i also wrote that you should speak with persons who already had an amputation to get more inside.

As read now you chose that.
I hope all gets well - you will have a hard time now at first, but with todays prosthetics i think you will be good as an active person. A friend of mine also just have one leg and is doing half marathons with it

    Thank you for your service.

If I were you... since you're super active. I'd see if you can get a well made fake that'll allow you to do the things you enjoy doing. I don't think you'd enjoy life as much if you were hindered by needing assistance just to walk around.

Also... I'm from Texas, too. A gun in the fake would be highly likely :P

I would rather get a fake leg and live my life as normal. Being bound in a wheel chair or using some sort of aid for most of my life sounds like a life I do not want to live. Take my leg, let me learn to walk on a prosthetic leg and let me be on my way. I know people that ride motorcycles with prosthetic legs as well btw

I'll be curious about the prosthetic you choose when you get around to it.

It's going to be a fairly basic, active lifestyle type of prosthetic No blade or motorized leg, I salt water fish and am accident prone. My biggest choice will be which fairingsI want.

Well, I like the Trooper White Black the best, but it appears to only be for kids. Failing that, for the below knee, I like: http://www.unyq.com/collections/gala...y-black-silver

Yeah I liked that one too, some of the cooler ones were above the knee. I should have asked my doctor to take more off.
