INB4 it's Americas fault, or how we Americans aren't doing enough to help.

Can't think of a worst place to get an earthquake of that magnitude.

Yea it's always in these crowded Asian areas. Can't have an earthquake at a place with a population of three people per km². No, it has to be in a place where you hit three people by just spitting on the ground.

That's fucked up, 1400 dead people is a lot, and that's just the first estimate.

Totally isolated... rescue services would probably be a major pain... wobbly centuries old buildings built on the side of mountains...
It's not going to be easy.

You will probably find that volcanoes that make fertile soil and fault lines that make mountains which make rain have influenced our population distribution somewhat, destined for doom.

faunt lines dont make mountains. Fault lines are the product of plate collision, which can ALSO produce mountains and volcanoes however.

    yes, geological semantics matter!

nearly 5200 dead now, that's just heartbreaking.. Such a remote area, I know very little about that corner of the earth. Hope the news focuses on it a little bit now that the rioting stuff seems to be over.

Then again, it's just a ticking death counter to the media.
