will we have to download dx11 seperately, or will that be included in the client when heavensward comes out
You must DL a separate DX11 Client. Gotta love SE never providing everything you need on the disks, to this day 14 years later, they have still never added all the patch updates to the FFXI disks.
DirectX 11 Client Distribution
Coinciding with the launch of Heavensward, we will be releasing the DirectX 11 client. Those of you who are already playing the Windows version, and using graphics cards that support DirectX 11, will be able to download this client to play in a DirectX 11 environment. The depth expression is remarkably different. The amount of strain placed on your processor will be lighter, so please check out the DirectX 11 version if your machine supports it. The client can be downloaded for free.
Back to the topic at hand, here is my score. Maximum DX11 Settings, says custom because I did turn off the "glare" setting. Don't like it, never use it, don't see a point in testing with it on, besides I doubt my score would change much.
The Benchmark was running SLi, both my GTX 780Ti were at around 73c, not bad!
14032 ~ Yeah, I think I'm good to play...lol
Benchmark Score Chart for anyone that didn't see it on the SE site.

thanks for the reply Khalus
yeah i ran mine this morning on DX11, just wasnt entirely sure if its on my Asus (or the wifes for that matter, but both are fairly new so im going to assume they have it, was just curious) and got very high with no tweaking as i was doing it while i was getting ready
Maximum setting, boarderless window:
DX9 - 9882 - Extremely High
DX11 - 7110 - Extremely High
While both are EH, I am not happy that it drop by almost 3k score though
Do you guys use any particular setting in the Nvidia control panel?

7990 1920x1080 770 Maximum settings
“Snow can only live in the winter. When it nears a fire, it dies. That is its life. It may yearn for summer, but… it can only desire it. In my hand, the snow becomes water, because this is not its world….”“The boundless Heavens and Earth are the final resting place of all living things. Life is like a journey, filled with various scenery, various paths.
Specs:
Motherboard: Asus Z77 V-LK
Processor: i7 2600@3.9GHz, no longer bothering with FSB OC.
RAM: 4x4GB 1600MHz CL9 G.skill / Corsair RAM
GPU: Gigabyte Windforce GTX770 factory OC.
OS: Windows 7 Professional.
Monitor FG2421 1920x1080@120Hz.
SSD: Samsung 830 256GB.
Max settings on all full screen windowed.
Looked at the GPU usage and CPU usage graph. This game is very much GPU dependent the entire way through. Not once did it dip down 100% (99%) usage other than loading screens.
Lowest FPS dip I saw was 40FPS~. Most of the time it was 50-70FPS with some occasions of 110FPS+, though that' usually just very basic scenery.
Maxed in Fullscreen.
The biggest dips I noticed were the close up to the water while fishing (59fps), the group fighting in the foreground as the mass of flying and ground mounts passed by in the background in the river (59fps), the close ups of the machine rising (47fps), and the second boss fight (48fps).

Guess I'll slap this in the proper thread then...
Specs:
Motherboard: Asus P8 Z77 V-LK
CPU: i5 2500k @ 4.6ghz
RAM: 16GB (x2 8g Gskill Sniper) 2133mhz
GPU: Sapphire Tri-X 290X
OS: Windows 7 Professional
Monitor: Acer generic 1920x1080 - 60mhz (might get the Acer G257HU 1440p monitor before the summer though, pretty cheap atm)
I have the game on a Toshiba 7200rpm 1TB HDD. I have never seen much of an improvement with slapping WoW, FF14, GW2, TERA, etc on my SSD so I use it for the OS and videos) only
Tikki tikki tembo, Usagi no Yojimbo, chari bari ruchi pip peri pembo!
Guys I need your help really bad so I can upgrade if needed before heavensward
Allright so I ran both dx9 and dx11 on maximum settings, borderless windowed and got very high and high respectively.
My settings go as follows:
CPU: Intel(R) core(TM) i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40GHz
GPU: AMD Radeon HD7800 series
RAM:8GB DDR3 1600MHz
Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-Z77X-UD5H
SSD: 500 GB SATA III 7200 rpm
Monitor: 1920x1080 @ 60Hz
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit
From a first glance and comparing to everyone else I think it is my GPU that is holding me back but while I know a few basic things about pc structure I m no expert at it and I know a lot of you here are very good at that so I really really would appreciate your help!
I want you guys to tell me which one of my specs still holds strong/very strong/is dated and which one absolutely needs an upgrade to run maximum settings on DX11!
Suggestions to what I could change it to are very very welcome
I know graphics cards are a lot cheaper now than they used to be 3-5 years ago.
