    Xenogears is my favorite game.

There were many other great games for the Playstation:
    Tenchu: Stealth Assassins
    Suikoden 2
Legend of Dragoon (I sucked at timing attacks but it was an interesting battle system)
Final Fantasy 7 and 8 (I hear 9 was excellent but I never got a chance to try it)
    Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver
    Metal Gear Solid
    Armored Core
Ehrgeiz (not for the fighting game which is a genre I was never a big fan of, but for the dungeon rpg)
Front Mission 3 (Final Fantasy Tactics gets a lot of love but this is my pick for best strategy game on the PS)
Final Fantasy Tactics (very nice class system)
    Kartia
    Tony Hawk 1 and 2
Chrono Cross (Excellent music that I still like to listen to, good combat system, wish it had a better story to tell)

Need more exposure for Legend of Legaia. Still has perhaps my favorite combat system in an RPG.

That and Suikoden II were by far my favorite RPGs of my childhood.

Could never get into the Final Fantasy series back then nor Legend of Dragoon. Though I did like and do recommend Xenogears.

Also +1 for Crash Team Racing for best party game for PS1.

Developpers weren't that different from now, difference is that publishers would mind their own godamn business and would just market and release the game when it was ready.
Havent found any good emu lately, any recommendation?
Cod has a new campaign, new weapons, new multiplayer levels every year. Zelda has been recycling the same weapons, villains, and dungeons since the 80's. Zelda recycles enough to make cod blush. The same weapons, villains, dungeons, and princess in every single Zelda for the most part. It's almost as cheesy as bowser vs Mario round 35

    Castlevania: SOTN

    Jet Moto
GT2 (the muscle cars had me addicted)

Amongst many of the ones people have already mentioned, Armored Core. We used to run tournaments on that in the barracks. I painstakingly searched out all the hidden items (we didn't have net access to look them up) so that my armory collection was 100% complete.

My favorite was a little known JRPG called Crimson Eyes.

I loved the Spyro games. Haqd bought them for younger brother as birthday presents, but I ended up playing/beating them for him, lol.

"JRPG" and a title I've never heard of in the same sentence. Enlighten me, please, because I can't turn anything up via searching.

I think he means Eternal Eyes.

Legend of Legaia stands to this day as my favorite game ever. Spyro 1&2 and Crash Bandicoot 1 and 2 were all crack for me at a young age. The Tomb Raider series too.
No, real men set standards and are territorial. Real men don't accept others that stray from the norm. Real men bully those that appear to be weak and inferior. Real men crave structure, hierarchies and rules. Your definition is just a way to neuter the male gender and only losers are deceived by it
What I learned in a Nintendo thread

A lot of great games, Final Fantasy 7, Metal Gear Solid, Crash Bandicoot games, Spyro games, Tekken 3, Soul Reaver, Heart of Darkness...

There also was a great 2,5d platformer called Klonoa, it doesnt really get mentioned at all so I had to go digging the internet to remember its name :P Must have done something very right since I still remember it after so long.

The Dungeon "side game" was underrated. I sunk quite a few hours into it.

FFVII, Tomb Raider, the first few THPS, Gran Turismo all stand out as games I played quite a lot of on the PS1.
