    This. A friend of mine raises them on bugs and regular feed, and when one of them gets egg-bound she has to isolate it and paint its ass blue. Apparently the other birds mistake the redness of the inflammation for blood and go into a frenzy like sharks do, even if the birds are well fed. If left to their own devices, they'll tear the egg-bound hen apart and eat her.

    No ones heard of grain fed chicken? That's what they mean, I'm not challenging the validity of the diet, most arguments seem on par but this has been around for a looong time.
