Man arrested for breaking window to free dog in distress

    http://www.wyff4.com/news/Man-who-sa...indow/32961002

Not even sure what can be said other than the title.

    They were waiting around for the police to come and assist the dog, and the guy decided to get it out of the blazing hot, dangerous car because he feared it would die in front of them;

and the owner of the car insisted he be arrested for it. She was also cited for leaving the dog in the car.

"Georgia state law allows an individual to break a window to save a child in distress, but not a pet."

Breaking property to make property stay unharmed is kinda stupid.

Sometimes doing the right thing involves breaking the law. That being said, someone willing to break the law to do good should also be prepared to face those consequences.

Pets are not exactly the same thing as property.

We have animal abuse laws, there's no law protecting an owner from beating his car to death.

There's legal protections granted to that "property" baking in the car. You can beat your car with a bat- I don't recommend beating your dog with one in view of a LEO.

    freeing a small Pomeranian
That's the dog? Dude flipped out for a Pomeranian?

And police can usually open a car up fast so there wasn't any reason to break the window.

Eh, I'd reject both cases and call it even.

Depends on the value of the dog and of the window.

The article says they were waiting for the police to arrive. So they were already on the way. Wouldn't have taken them long to get there and open the door.

I wouldn't think twice about breaking some dickwads window to get their dog or kid out. But you gotta accept the consequences, I doubt he gets any actual punishment.

Animals are treated differently than humans. It might suck, but it's what it is right now. If you're incensed, lobby to get the law changed. This would be the perfect example to get people motivated.

If anything the lady is probably going to be portrayed as a dog hating psychopath who cares more about her cars window then the dog lol.

"waiting for the police to arrive" can take 20 minutes. Could easily suffer irreprable damage in that time in that hot of a car.

Cops need to arrest anything that moves now to keep the cash coming in for the courts and localities, in this age of Austerity For You But Not For the Well-Connected.

Well, the woman who owned the dog and car was demanding he be arrested, they didn't go out of there way to do it apparently.

I agree though- while his intentions were good he did break somebody's property, the Stannis in me says a good deed doesn't wash out the bad- so he should pay for the window- the exact cost, and nothing more.
