Milli Vanilli, Bigger than Elvis

depends where the bears from. grizzlys from lower in america will be smaller than those from alaska or canada.
Even a tiger or lion wouldn't beat a kodiak, might have a small chance with smaller breeds of grizzly/brown bears but not a kodiak. To put it in perspective, the only land carnivore that can contend with a kodiak is another kodiak or a polar bear. Size isn't everything since both subspecies, grizzly and kodiak have fairly similar size and weapons.
I still put money on the grizzly, the claws would decapitate the silverback and they still have a lot of size.

A grizzly bear versus a great white shark would be better. Except the shark's in a giant aquarium and the bear is locked inside a cage thirty feet away, and neither one realizes they're supposed to be fighting.
Grizzlies have claws and better teeth.

The team also tested what the bears could do to a 700-pound metal Dumpster.
"It was like a beach ball to them," Cairns said. "They could roll it over and over. It took a minimum of two people a concerted effort to tip it."
After two days of testing, Cairns and Smith came back to MSU. In less than 24 hours, Schmitt assembled the data into a computer model that could illustrate how a bear shaking a tree compared to a human.
"Our conclusion was a grizzly bear is equal to 2.5 to 5 humans in strength. I'm certain if a bear were enraged it would be much, much higher," Cairns said. "We never did get them ticked off. We didn't want to."
I thought this was a Hearthstone thread about taunt cards. I'm disappointed.
Was just gonna point that out...
Grizzly can be as much as 1700 lb.. but that's exceptions.
Generally the bear and the ape are of similar size, with the ape clocking in as a bit stronger, yet the bear heavier.
This is now assuming that we match 2 normal developed males...
It's an open fight outcome actually and depends a lot on different circumstances. Neither one of the two is the favorite.

Gonna have to vote bear. They are a predator and know how to kill stuff, gorillas, though very large and have the potential to kill stuff probably wouldn't be able to take on a bear due to sheer size. And even though gorillas have large teeth, they don't usually bite during a fight, it's all punches and throwing their arms about.
A bear would just rip it to pieces in a fight to the death, and people seem to forget that it's not a King Kong gorilla, they don't fight by breaking necks and headlocks. A bear on the other hand would go around the neck and bite, or claw it to death. They also kill deer in chase by swinging their paws to break the back, so with that much force I really don't think a gorilla would do well. But who knows for sure?
Doing some research, the Grizzly is actually a bit stronger than a Gorilla. So it seems at this point the only thing the Gorilla has an advantage is agility and brain function. But brute strength, Grizzly wins.

Grizzlies are actually stonger. So, they are apparently strong where it counts as well.
i don't think a gorilla's brains would do much, tbh. yeah, it's smart... but that only counts when you're human level. a gorilla won't exploit weaknesses, because it's just an animal, if it's in fight mode it's instincts are going 100%.
a human however, has the clarity of mind to act on their smarts. you see a rip, you can rip at it, or go for other weaknesses, shove a stick into it's mouth or something. a gorilla won't do this stuff, like ever.
