First Expansion without Any New BGs & Arenas? Why?

With 6.2 possibly being the final patch of the expansion and absolutely no indication of any new BGs or arenas coming, will this be the first expansion to feature none? Why? They could've at least replaced the BC Nagrand Arena map with the WoD version.

Why put effort and money in a product if you can get the same sales by not doing so. Blizz has been looking for the fine line of milking the most out as little as possible content without pissing people off enough to make them leave even with being addicted.

Because all the pvp development time got wasted on trashcan.

We got Trashcan. Aren't you happy with that wonderful battleground?

Don't worry, buddy, after the gigantic failure of ashran we'll have new bgs/arenas in the next expac for sure. They will never try a "lol-world pvp-zone" again.

I'd say pissing off 2.9M is enough.

It's funny because both WotLK and Cata had 2(+?) BGs each and still had an AWESOME/decent timed PvP zone.
Still wondering why I play this game.
I'm a Rogue and I also made a spreadsheet for the Order Hall that is updated for BfA.

As someone who enjoys completing battleground achievements, the lack of new bgs really annoys me. The only thing to do in Ashran is grind out 500 kills on each enemy race.

It wouldn't even be hard to make new versions of existing battlegrounds. Gilneas and AB are the same map type, just different sizes. How about a scaled up version? More maps for capture the flag? An above-ground version of SSM escorting caravans instead of mine carts? A new power ball map set in an ogre village? How about a naval battleground making use of the new ship models (without excessive vehicle combat)?

The possibilities are astounding, as is the lack of implementation.

No resources. They are busy making paid-for options, like tokens, and other games, like Overwatch. Not joking.

This isnt PvE. New content isnt our top concern, balance is. We have enough BGs,Arenas. If they are gonna work on anything they should work on balance.

Too much effort is going into Ashran. They spent months and months in beta on it, turned out to be terrible. Now they're trying to fix it, which I'll hold my breath on whether they can.

Seeing as Blizzard hasn't really made a good BG since EOTS or a good arena since the original 2 (Tol'viron is okay-ish I guess), I'm okay with this.

I also wonder why we get so little content. But seriously.. why did they not implement this:

Were these features shown at blizzcon just mockups? Why announce something and then completly ignore any questions about it after release. I'm usualy not the guy dooming something.. but blizzard seems to lose interest in WoW.

    Why won't they implement this?

    Or the WoD nagrand arena?

Sadly, I agree. WoD to me feels like a complete cash grab. We saw an insane amount of lack of content this expansion, and we're seeing so much heading to the cash shop instead of making its way in game like things used to. Not only do we see no new PVP arenas / battlegrounds, but we're seeing no new 5 mans, something they said would be here because of how upset people got with MoP when they added none. Then again, Blizzard's words of, "We learned from our mistakes" are little more then lies tossed in our faces at this point. Their word has so little value that even when they're telling the truth, it's hard to take it until you actually see it.

Beyond all that, it's clear they just have no idea where the hell they want the focus of this game to be anymore. They have an insanely hard time balancing their own game, which is their own fault due to the extreme inflation and button bloat.

Actually, I doubt they invested all that much effort into Ashran. Heck look at Tol Barad and Wintergrasp, both whom were made during expansions where a bunch of BGs/Arenas were also added.

Op, they're cutting corners and minimizing investment, that's why.

Because, it would've taken effort. They basically take lessons from Activision now who are big on hyping stuff up, then never delivering. Remember Destiny for example. Why actually invest if you can just promise, not do it and by the time the next expansion hits everyone forgot about it anyway?

Actually, if you remember correctly, Wintergrasp and TolBarad were each HORRIBLY buggy for the first few months. Wintergrasp was fixed relatively quickly and tol barad just became a shit fest towards the end.

    Yep.

PvP got the short end of the stick. No new BGs, no new arenas. It did get Ashran, but i think it was underwhelming and not well received. Personally i don't like it. Hell, compared to it, Tol Barad and Wintergrasp were amazing and included PvE aspects to it aswell (Vault of Archavon and Baradin Hold).

But it's not just PvP. For example, in TBC we got 14-16 dungeons throughout the expansion... WoD had 8. They are really releasing less and less stuff in every regard, which is worrying.

But hey! We got Selfies and Twitter interaction!

Ashran and gladiator sanctum, both good in theory but both got their issues, and Im playing neither of them anymore.
I love battlegrounds, it's really fun and I think it's extremely bad that we didn't even get one. Lazy, really lazy actually =(

I also think things being not balanced is a good thing, stop trying to make every class super similar to the point of there not being any flavour. Focus on making classes fun to play when played right.

Anyway w/e blizzard isn't going to do shit all about it.
