With so many remakes out there I'm just wondering if there are some remakes which people have actually enjoyed.
For me, I will readily admit:
I really enjoyed this one. The cast ad the songs were brilliant.

The newer Dawn of the Dead movie was good. True Grit was fabulous. The Ocean's Eleven was good. Little Shop of Horrors with Rick Moranis. I liked the new ("new" - it's probably like ten years old now) version of the Count of Monte Cristo. I hate Jim whatshisface that played the lead, but Richard Harris, Guy Pearce, Luis Guzman, yesplease. On a similar token, I also liked 1990s Romeo and Juliet.
I really liked The Departed, although I am not sure I liked it better than Infernal Affairs, and I am also not sure if it is officially credited as a remake of Infernal Affairs although they're the same fucking movie. I am somewhat biased as a super giant fan of Tony Leung.
I'm sure I'm missing some.
Dredd
Robocop
Dawn of the Dead
Flubber
Godzilla
Godzilla(again)
I am Legend
Planets of the Apes(newer ones)
King Kong(new one)
The latest Godzilla was great.
Dawn/Rise of the Planet of the Apes was AWESOME.
True Grit is one of my favourite films.
LOVE the Departed.
Those are the big ones, I'm probably forgetting one or two.

Dredd was fantastic, would love a sequel (also, since I've seen that movie I've been saying if they ever made a Mass Effect movie, Karl Urban should play Commander Sheppard.)
Dawn of the Dead was solid
While it was a movie made out of a TV show, 21 and 22 Jump Street were downright awesome. And as crazy as it is, I'm totally down for them to add those 2 guys to the Men in Black world.
Star Trek (2009)
Dawn of the Dead (2004)
Fright Night (2011)
Hrm...I'm sure there are more but I'm drawing a blank.
Dawn/Rise of the Planet of the Apes were not remakes, they were prequels. The remake would be the terrible Tim Burton Planet of the Apes from 2001 staring Mark Wahlberg.
Dawn of the Dead was pretty good although not quite as much as the original.
Little Shop of Horrors is amazing.
The Departed and Let Me In are both really solid english remakes of foreign language films
Casino Royale I guess could be considered a remake even though the original was really a parody of James Bond even though it was based on the first novel.
Evil Dead I actually enjoyed way more then I thought I would even though it is a pretty different movie then the original.
Battlestar Gallactica.
Aah.. movies. Not TV shows.
Star Trek - original ones were fairly mediocre at best. (RIP LN)
Want to see a Dune remake maybe.

I guess it sort of is in the most broad terms. To me a remake is a movie that still follows the same plot as the film it is remaking, just updating it for modern audiences or in a different language/country. That's why I don't really view the last two Star Trek movies as remakes either. They are just more Star Trek movies. Both the Trek movies and the Planet of the Apes movies could be considered reboots if anything.
I would love to see a Dune TV series. There is a ton of material between Herbert's original novels and now his son's that they could easily make a pretty epic multi-season series out of it.
Dredd to an extent since it is a new adaptation of the comic vs. a remake of the Stallone movie. The only thing they have in common is the character Dredd. Is every James Bond movie just a remake since they all star James Bond?
Robocop and Total Recall are remakes though since they follow the same basic plot with the same characters, although I don't think he goes to Mars in Total Recall or something. The whole thing about fake memories and secret spy and crap is all there. the two recent Planet of the Apes movies are totally different outside of the smart apes rebelling against humanity. Rise has some similarities to Conquest in its premise, but is still a very different movie. Star Trek could be a remake except for the fact that Old Spock is in both the movies meaning that it is actually directly connected to the original series.
Heat was a great remake of LA Takedown. Same director just bigger stars. I remember seeing it in the cinema and enjoying it no end.
Heat is such a good movie. Really Val Kilmer's last big, good one if my memory serves me. Though his guest spot on Entourage as the sherpa in Season 1 was great. Would love if he popped up in the movie.
The plot of Robocop is about a police officer is nearly killed and his brain and body are used to make a half man, half machine cop with the intent of it being controllable by a morally questionable corporation but things don't go their way when the police officer's memories and personality begin to break through the machine's programing. That is a lot more specific of a plot then Star Trek's basic plot of humans start to explore space and meet intelligent life forms from other planets.
He was awesome in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang but yeah, he really isn't doing all that many big movies anymore.
