there are some people who just don't evolve well. I know theres the excuse that someone growing up in a more run down neighborhood could only have that perception of life, but its never a fucking excuse unless in the most extreme of circumstance.

This is the report that led the EU to ban it, save for the -few- places where it's already a thing: France, Spain, Romania, Hungary (and Belgium?).
the amount of evidence in the scientific literature concerning the effects of force feeding and liver hypertrophy on injury level, on the functioning of the various biological systems is small.

The process lasts less than 5 seconds.
Ducks and geese lack a gag reflex.
They're usually held by a person.

The concerns about their welfare are more focused on the facilities, their access to open spaces where they can stretch their wings, and interact socially like normal birds, avoiding caging where they injure themselves, etc.

Many alternative methods are being researched. From softer nozzles, to different feeding patterns. France requires force-feeding for the product to be called foiegras, because it's part of their traditional heritage. In other places, natural feeding suffices.

It's the cute animals with personality we care about, never mind that we kill billions of chickens and cows in the cruelest manners every single year, but omg a dog was mistreated!

    People are fucked up.

While animal cruelty is always sad, I think people get carried away...

His history seems to be very drug related, and I really don't care mucha bout drug convictions.

I am more outraged on violence toward children than animals

Putting aside the animal cruelty, he seems like a waste of life overall.

I mean shit, taping an animal's mouth shut is terrible, yes, but like I said, people do FAR worse to animals than this. Hell, part of the "appeal" to this story is that the dog lived. We get a nice shot of the sweet dog after getting the tape removed and will hope that she'll live a nice life with new owners that treat her properly.

The more apt responses in this thread are the ones that hold this as a portent of this individual's violent nature, rather than analyzing this crime alone and wanting to cut his tongue off or some such for it.

This man isn't dangerous because he taped a dog's mouth shut; he IS a dangerous man who taped a dog's mouth shut. His criminal record stands to that.
