Why are these things so ridiculously expensive? I was just mousing around my JC's stash of gems with TSM active, seeing if any of them were worth sending to the AH, when I hit these things. They're going for almost 300g EACH on my server! What am I missing here?

I've bought them on my realm for 1g and resold for 100g. I guess they are rare, but not everyone knows because I often see them up there for much less.

They're the only gem of that level used in anything worthwhile. The Flying Carpet from Tailoring. It's better to level JC via other means, and better to sell the ore rather than prospect, so the few that do appear when gathered from mining will be more expensive.

Would be my guess anyway

I'm sitting on three stacks of 200 and one stack of 64 of these things. I don't actually need them myself. Maybe it's time to make a bit of money. Thanks for the info guys.
