The "overworld" theme was awesome too.


As for why, this works for me too:

Mostly, I value in soundtracks how well they enhance, or even create, the game's atmosphere. A very good track can make an already great cinematic scene, or boss fight, or just regular gameplay incredibly immersing, putting you right into the game's fantasy world.

SO2's soundtrack made me feel like I was actually there in a lot of ways.

Journey on PS3. The song Apothesis starts playing as you get near the end and the song keeps building and building making trying to get to the very end so intense. I was in tears, the music and ending were as close to anything spiritual as I've ever felt.

When I need to do various work around my house, I will usually pop Ristar into my Mega Drive, turn the volume all the way up, and let this soothing, almost jazzy melody play for a couple hours.
