Is it my ipad or my new wireless router that has issues?

We have 4 iPad minis. I just installed a new router a few weeks ago - the FIOS Quantum router. My PC Internet is very speedy now. I have a wired and wireless PC in my office.

We ( still ) get poor wireless in my family room. But everywhere else it is just fine, including my basement and my 3rd floor.

Two of our iPads keep trying to switch to our Chromecast for a signal, while the other 2 are just fine, and never drop the main wireless signal. That leads me to think that the minis are having issues, but all 4 were perfectly fine until I changed to the upgraded router.

They drop the signal and look for the Chromecast about 3x a day.... What do you think? Plus, my mini seems to actually be slower when playing internet connected games like SimCity BuildIt. We can be anywhere in the house when the minis try to find the Chromecast.

You say nothing about the wireless settings on your new router.

You should have 2 wireless networks... 2.4ghz and 5ghz.

Set devices that have weak signals to the 2.4ghz network (it goes further, and better through obstacles (walls, etc)).

Otherwise use the 5ghz on devices that can use it, usually more bandwidth available.

Also on the 2.4ghz, set it to pure wireless N, not mixed.
