The only thing I know is that I was in the middle of a heated religious debate when /r/DebateReligion went private and I got the last laugh, so HAH! xD
Yeah, here's to hoping the admins do something quick. I kinda like Reddit.
To be fair, /r/IAmA literally couldn't continue doing what they were doing without /u/chooter, so they kind of *had* to shut down. Along with /r/books, /r/science, /r/AMA, and a number of others, they were just useless. The others joined in as a sort of "share the pain" sort of thing, to get attention to the admins quicker to get the site back on track.
Plus it's not just this one thing. Their code hasn't been updated since like 2013, and most of the stuff the mods are using is 3rd party stuff, and no matter how many times volunteers offer to integrate the "addons" to the base of the site, they're rejected. The administrators just plain don't like dealing with volunteers, and it's those volunteers that keep the site alive. Kinda crappy.
So... Someone gets fired... Protests arise... and you call this RIP reddit? DRAMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Money talks, bullshit walks..
Just one event in a long chain.
For me, it died with Aaron; we're just figuring now how putrid it's become.
yeah, from the logs it looks like reddit's moderators want better moderation features and are using this as a means to extort them from higher ups.
meanwhile the community is angry that the AMA coordinator got fired for not censoring the AMA.
a GREAT LEAP FORWARD for chairwomyn Pao's career.
Damn, for a moment I thought Reddit had been shut down, Now I'm sad.

All this fuss because Jesse Jackson was given a platform, aka an AMA, and embarrassed himself?
