    Headset mic sounds muffled

    Hi,

I bought a new headset while on holiday, a Skullcandy Slyr headset. After trying it out on skype and teamspeak my friends are saying that my voice sounds muffled almost like I'm in a box.

There's no drivers for the headset so I'm not really sure how to fix this issue. I'm not even sure what info to give you as to help with this.

    Any help would be appreciated.

I have checked that everything seems snug.

I did have to buy an RCA to 3.5mm jack to plug it in, could that have anything to do with it?

Nah, that shouldn't affect the volume of your microphone. Have you set it up properly? Go into Recording devices -> Mic properties-> Levels(tab)-> Microphone boost and add 10db, or 20db if needed. Now go into the Advanced tab -> uncheck "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device". See if that works for ya.
