For at least the last 900 years, that was more "anyone who dared to call themselves Sith, regardless of whether they've actually done anything bad".

Also, their whole "love is just as evil as hate, and must be exterminated" worldview is pretty damn objectionable on its own merits. While the Sith code has obvious problems with the potential for megalomania, it at least admits that potential, rather than pretending to some false nobility like the Jedi.
