I really like tv shows about some sort of battle for power going on. Examples of this are House of Cards, Game of Thrones and season 2 of Suits (<3 Daniel Hardman).

Amusingly enough, there is a show called Power that is currently going through it's second season that might be what you're looking for. Outstanding show. Black Sails as well.

Boss, about the major of Chicago portrayed by Kelsey Grammer. Super depressing as it feels like a very realistic portrayal of how politics works, but very fascinating.
