    [TV] Historical TV shows

    Hey guys

I am looking for some new (semi-)historical TV shows to watch. Currently I have watched the following shows :

    1.Vikings
    2.The Tudors
    3.Borgia : Faith & Fear
    4.Rome
5.Da vinci's demons (just season 1.. but that series turned out horrible)
    6.Outlander
    7.Wolf Hall
    8.The hollow crown
    9.(planning to watch) Tut
    10.(planning to watch) Black Sails
11.(planning to watch) The White Queen
    12.(planning to watch) Turn : Washington's spies
    13.(Planning to watch) The musketeers

And no doubt countless more which I jsut forgot about.

Does anyone still have some good recommendations? I prefer shows that where made after 2010 and generally in any period before 1800.

Did not list that one, because it's not 100% a historical show even though every single historical show is compared to game of thrones. But I have watched that one

Marco Polo is supposed to be great, not seen it yet though.

Totally obsessed with Vikings though, love that show.

I always thought the Tudors was way ahead of its time, as afterwards, spawned things like Vikings and Rome! Tudors was an awesome series that doesn't get enough credit!
I love Warcraft, I dislike WoW

No mention of Sharpe, Sean Bean at his finest.

Well.. it's grounded in history, there are many historical parellels but it's no historical show at all. It can be compared to historical shows though, as it's built the same way.

Spartacus might be a good thing to consider, not 100% accurate to what happened, but still not too bad either(for acuracy) I personally LOVED the serie, just suck that between season 2 and 3 their is such a huge gap in time their is 3 season and a half, and between season 1 and 2 (not counting 1.5) the actor who played Spartacus changed due to a cancer and he died

    † Rest † In † Peace † Andy Whitfield †

By Jupiter's cock you must see Spartacus, great actors, much violence and sexy women everywhere.

Yeah, I have checked it out before but I am not very much into it.

I am currently watching Black Sails and afterwards I will most likely go for Turn : Washington's spies.. but if anyone still has good suggestions keep them coming up. 7 weeks of summer holiday with shit weather to go. :P

Spartacus, Deadwood, Band of Brothers, the Pacific, Generation War, Boardwalk Empire, Black Sails.

edit: just read any period before 1800. Well, scratch half.

I second the Marco Polo recommendation. The start is a little uneven and I, like many viewers, nearly stopped watching at a certain foot binding scene, but it is worth sticking with. The Kublai Khan actor is awesome (was fearsome in Top Boy, too - I'll never look at a can of beans the same again).

It's not a show, but if you have Netflix and haven't watched the German film, Downfall, you must do so. Sire of a thousand youtube remixes ("Hitler learns of Ned Stark's death etc"), it lives up to its reputation. You believe the actor is Hitler, he presents such a human picture of the monster.

If you ever get a chance to watch the mini-series Das Boot, you should do so. Best German made war series ever.

I have always wondered, what is so great about Spartacus? It just looks like it's about boobs & sex without any serious storyline or whatsoever.
