[TV] Xena (because everything old is new)

Apparently the oh so wise people at NBC who canceled Constantine, decided it's time to reboot Xena: Warrior Princess.

    REALLY!!! WTF!!!

It's fine, it'll only last a season or so.

I liked the original show, but I don't think a reboot would be as successful.

NEVER going to work. Even if they bring back Lucy Lawless, Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert it'll still be terrible.

Holy ****! Party at my place!!!!!

Months ago I read that Lucy wanted to pass the torch because she felt she was too old for the part though. Can't find the article because every buzz is from the last 24 hours.

So how does she recover from the show finale?

Xena and Aries would suck being played by someone else. It's terrible when death was avoidable but happened out of bad choices - Kevin Smith (and Paul Walker too). They also killed off Olympus so the charm's gone.

Xena was a spin off from Hercules. She originally appeared on Hercules.

Hercules started Xena. She showed up on the show and then had a spinoff.

I doubt they'd put enough money in this to make it good. The old one wasn't high budget but it had its charm. Can't wait for them to shoehorn in some "girl power!" crap which wasn't a thing in the old one. Xena's character was a warrior who could go toe to toe with the best, not someone fighting to prove something for women.

The first few seasons were good, but then it got stale. Same thing with Xena.

ohhhhh goodness, i loved xena. i really hope it doesn't suck, but pretty much EVERYTHING that's made today sucks, so it'll probably suck.

still, i'll hold on to my hope.

    Thank fuck for that.

Now I'm going to go watch my old DVDs and enjoy the best kind of Xena, original Xena.

Lol, she probably has to say that since its "supposed" to be in the development stages...as stated in the article. But, if she's being truthful, thank god...Lucy, leave it on the table and walk away.

Ah Lucy Lawless, surely one of the sexiest women alive. Hell she could be 70 and I'd still be drooling over her in her Xena outfit.

IF they do make a reboot I will still watch it, just for the old time sake ... even it would suck :P But I doubt they will ever reboot it into a series. They shld make a movie or so tho

I want to say Kevin said he'd be up to it or something in a previous AMA on reddit. That or the opposite.

Yeah....so far, most "modern reboots" I've seen weren't good. The biggest problem here is that the actors/characters were so important in the original show. Without Lucy Lawless (in her original role), it's just not going to be right.

Sorta like when Dukes of Hazzard was close to the most popular show on TV, but then the actors who played the main characters left the show. They were replaced with lookalikes who had different names to keep the show running, and everyone hated it. Then the show's popularity went back up when the main characters returned.
