    Upgrading an old system

    Hi

Although this is really an old platform, I has been serving me well - until recently, since when I've been getting more and more bsods. I can exclude RAM, GPU and CPU as I did a lot of testing - those are relatively new and work well. So I think it's the Motherboard, which would be logical as it's also the oldest part in my system.

    MB: MSI 770-C45
CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 965 BE
    GPU: Geforce 760 (GB WF3)
    RAM: 8 GB branded

I have a SSD and two WD Greens.
A DVD drive and an internal card reader.

Budget: as low as possible! Considering finding used hardware....
I play Games like WoW, D3, Dirt etc. on a 24" 1920x1200 res TFT.
    I live in Germany.

Now essentially my questions is - should I just find a new MB (found decent ones around 50-60€) or is that not worth it?
Maybe there is a cheap-ish bang-for-buck Intel CPU&MB combo that makes much more sense?? If so, what would that be?

Also, if choosing only a new AM3/FM2 MB - any recommendations?
Again, bang-for-buck. Mine has no UEFI, no USB3, nothing really. So anything is an upgrade....

Provided your memory is DDR3 1600 MHz you need a new mobo/cpu and psu unless its new, and keep the rest. Maybe your case too if you let us know what model exactly it is.

If the above is too much then you would have to look for an i3:

In a month or so intel releases their new cpu gen, so you might be interested waiting for that.

Googling shows the mobo is standard ATX which means case is too. OP's current cpu+mobo uses more power than current i5's or i3's so new PSU is unnecessary. While 1600MHz RAM is nice but not necessary, voltage might be a bigger problem and those probably wont run at full speed.

Yeah its ddr3 tho is might be 1066mhz. I would say 1333mhz might be fine. Psu i recommended has nothing to do with how much power needed. Rather that if its a 4-5old power supply of quality which we don't know, i would simply but new.
