    Mafia III has been announced!

Mafia III is officially in development, 2K has confirmed.

Details are thin on the ground at the moment, though more will apparently be revealed at Gamescom, where the official announcement trailer will be revealed on August 5 at 5am PT / 8 am PT / 1pm GMT.

Pretty pumped for this. Mafia 2 was a pretty underrated game in my opinion. Definitely a memorable title.

Looks late 60s early 70s from those cars.

Love the Mafia series, I felt 2 could have been better but still definitely enjoyed it. I hope they include the old driving features like actual speed limits etc, something I always felt other games were missing after playing Mafia.

    her dish is Hunger,
    her knife is Famine,

    I enjoy both Mafia games.

The only thing I wish they stray from formula on is putting some non linear reasons to explore the world. Both games are as linear as a corridor shooter but have beautiful open worlds, it's like what? I know the dlc to Mafia 2 kind of added some reasons to free roam but really just get some side missions, odd jobs to do and the game could easily be GOTY material if everything else lives up to Mafia franchise standards.

Game informer put up some speculation after doing a closer observation of the picture.

Looks like the locale of Mafia III could end up being pretty interesting. I'd love to see the game set in South Florida in the 60s and 70s.

I felt the second game was pretty meh... Mostly because it was a giant open world entirely devoid of content outside of the short story...

Okay, so all this news has me super excited. A half-black protagonist who doesn't feel stereotypical or shoe-horned in, Vito is returning, based in New Orleans and you get to interact with different heads of the various gangs of NO while working together to take down the Italian mob. It isn't a traditional Mafia game but damn does it sound amazing. Super stoked for this game right now.

Loving what I'm seeing so far, even if it's just teasers. Game definitely has the possibility for an outstanding soundtrack given the period and location.
