    Windows 10 Audio Issue

Basically, I upgraded to Windows 10 from 7 and now the audio will no longer auto switch between front and rear jacks depending on if my headphones are plugged in or not.

I thought there was a switch where front jack always took priority to the rear.
I can get sound from both but I have to switch default device.

I think previously it would know that there was no headphones plugged in but it seems that I thinks that it is a permanent playback device.

Driver is VIA HD Audio and has been uninstalled and rebooted several times.

and that's very likely your problem.
you need to install the soundcard drivers yourself.

Try this audio driver and see if it fixes your issue.

right click on the volume iron in system tray
    click on playback devices
on the list that appears click the speakers for your sound device
    click the properties button
    go to advanced
in the drop down box select 16 bit, 96000 Hz (studio), use test button if you wish

Right-click on the speaker icon in the task bar (right bottom corner of the Desktop)
Click on Playback devices to see a list of devices connected to the system
If your Via HD Audio devic is not listed, it is possible that the device has been disabled by accident. Right click and select Show disabled devices
If your device is listed after this, right click on it and select enable
After this, right click on the speaker and click Set as default option from the same window

    Open Playback Devices
Right-click the output device (in my case, "Speakers") and set as Default Device.
Select the device, and click on the Properties button
Go to the Enhancements tab and check "Disable all enhancements"
    Try this.

PS : Avoid products with VIA components, they have poor drivers and support.

After I removed all audio drivers and reinstalled these it worked a charm.
Playback devices no longer separates speakers and headphones and front jack now overrides back.

Thank you Duke and thank you everyone else.

Except the driver problems, there is another big issue that Windows 10 tick "enable audio enhancements" option by default.
So sometimes uncheck this option will fix audio problem.

    1. Right click on audio icon from taskbar
    2. Click your current playback device
    3. Select Speakers/HP > Properties > Advanced
    4. Uncheck "Enable audio enhancements" option
    5. Click Apply and then OK.

For driver install and fix, I personally recommend free and easy-to-use software DriveTheLife.
