If that happened, there would be a reason for it. Like a new MMO becoming huge, them releasing another MMO, or (unlikely for a long time) because sub numbers had dropped well below 1m. So, yes. If there was another MMO, I would be able to check that out. I also unsub occasionally and only come back when I feel that there's something I want to do.

I'd likely feel a bit slighlty sad as I am aware that holding on to contact to all the people I know from this game would be unlikely.

Not dumb enough to pretend that "it's just a game" though. No other game that I have ever played has meant as much to me, seen me through bad times and given me as many hours of fun and escape from reality as WoW. And that's BEFORE counting the many hours of fun that it has given me together with other players. If Blizzard decided to shut WoW down, I'd shed more than one tear whilst moving on. I'd be done with mmorpgs though.

Thinking they will ever pull the plug is weird however if looking at for example EverQuest.

World of Warcraft isn't my friend, the people I've met and become friends with are, and the game closing down doesn't change that. It's just a game. The people I play with are ultimately the reason I play it at all.

Don't get me wrong, I love Warcraft, and I have a lot of love for Blizzard games. I play them all and will likely continue to do so. But at the end of the day, they are just games, and WoW in particular is more about the people playing it than the game itself.

OP, your avatar is priceless. On one hand I think I'd be sad... then I think about how bad the game would have to be for Blizzard to kill off the cash cow and I'd probably be glad it's over.

I've found that as well.

I mean, we all know how the WoW community can be but, going to another MMORPG, with perhaps even a little bit of a "nicer" community, just isn't the same. (further than the obvious, "of course not, it's a different game")
