I mained pally for the longest time and got used to binding 1,2,3,4,5,q,e,z,x and shift combos + F1-F4, which seemed to be just the right numbers of binds as ret, Prot needed a few more, holy a bit less with 18 prime binds and 4 major CDs. Warlock much much less while warriors had way more; yet found warrior much much easier to play than lock - go figure.
How many binds do your specs have? To normalize the count, DO NOT count:
Pot
Racial
On use trinkets
Ring
flask
healthstone/health pot
Stat buffs
Abilities not used every fight. IE - soulstone would not always be used even if bound
Talents rows which active and passive, add only if active is used 60%+ and is bound
See if people have similar binds, what classes I could change to w similar binds and if theres a huge variation by class & spec Summary (PvE / PvP) Paladin
Ret = 18 / 20
Prot = 22 / ?
Holy = 17 / ?
Seems like less keys doesnt make a spec easier to play, almost the opposite for me. Prot warr and arms was really running out of room and had to macro some stuff together.
well my mage has 1234qerfyxcv times 2 with mousewheel. minus 2 trinkets.
then 12 buttons with shift. minus 1 table which is optional and engineering, garrison abilities and mounts.
then alt 1234qe for buffs, healthstones, drinking etc. qe for focus cs and sheep (the minimum for pvp).
tab + shift tab for cool downs and time warp. 5 and 6 for vanity toys.
you can decrease that drastically for pve but in pvp everything counts.
i have 4 bars, so 48 buttons, bound. probably the minimum as a pvper as i don't have macros for arena targets and teammates.
for pve i use perhaps 9 buttons regularly including barchange with mouse wheel. but i only lfr for the questitems. i don't care for more.
in total: pyro, fireball, scorch, inferno blast, blast wave, dragons breath, combustion, meteor, block, cold snap, counter spell, flame strike, blink, rocket jump (goblin racial), blazing speed and spell steal. perhaps remove curse but rarely in lfr.
