    Revenge Porn

Now I didn't really know much about this, I just assumed it was disgruntled exes sending naughty pictures to friends however I watched a documentary about it last night which really opened my eyes and disturbed me. Firstly I didn't know the craze was started by a 23 y/o American who designed a website to humiliate his ex and to offer a platform for others to do the same. What disturbed me was how he even hacked computers to steal pictures and post letters from concerned parents that mentioned suicide attempts! Thankfully that arsehole was arrested but unfortunately similar sites still exist. What's worst is the comments people put up that usually always involves sexual violence against the victims WTF! Hell some people even upload the exes phone numbers and FB address too...

Thankfully it's illegal here to upload somebodies naughty pictures to the internet without said persons consent but apparently it's legal to create said sites. The whole thing left me uneasy, especially the amount of people that both visit and upload to these sites. It's pretty fucked up

until society learns to see sex as normal instead of taboo, sex will always be used as a threat

IE: if there was no social stigma attached to sex, there would be no way to socially threaten ppl with sex

If you don't want naked pictures of you floating around the web, don't take naked pictures and send it to other people. Even better, don't take naked pictures.

    It's that simple.

Is that a solution really? Never ever trust your partner in having intimate memorabilia of you?

pictures can be taken without consent, but i still stand by my first post as the only solution, everything else will just be a band-aid

Well tbh fam your partner is the last person you should trust with nudes since you will break up and they will probably be pissed at you

All things end, even "perfect" relationships.

What we are seeing here is basically people that trust other people too much, and probably allow nudes of themselves extremely early in the relationship without even fully knowing the person.

How can we even be talking of trust when we have kids as young as 12 years old which are already exchanging nudes among themselves as if it was nothing and without realizing the consequences? Those aren't relationships. That's just stupidity.

I don't think taboo is the issue, the issue is betrayal and the horrific messages the victims receive

Pretty much. Relationships in general are a gamble, nowadays; why else do you think prenuptial agreements were created?

Unless you're part of what I imagine to be the very small, select group of people whose partners are decent/loyal and not predisposed to 'shaft' them (as the saying goes) if things go wrong; then you're taking a chance in life. The best you can do is bear the potential consequences in mind, and act accordingly.

It's not a matter of trust... picture can be stolen... computers hacked... etc. if you don't want it out there don't take any. But if you do... own it! It only has power over you if you are ashamed. Say, Yup that's me and I look damn good!

Surely only somebody with the maturity of a 10 y/o and serious issues would even consider this

nothing can ever prevent someone from threatening you physically, call the cops if they do that, just like we do now even when sex is not a part of it

as for "betrayal", again, if there were no social stigma about sex, there wouldn't be a "betrayal"

Again the issue isn't about shame but more the reaction of others

The solution is not caring if someone sees your nudes. It's not that big of a deal really

It's illegal here as well that is why you are a little late to the party on this one the site got taken down like 3 years ago. The big one, yougotposted.com, had by country and state the shitty part is they also dropped all your social media information on top of the nudes.

Also you don't have to worry about the owner of the previous site for at least 18 years either

You guys have to understand that society doesn't work like that.

Imagine you have a job as a financial expert that helps people to manage their funds. You also have a crossdressing fetish and like to get pegged by your wife/girlfriend while wearing her clothes and makeup. Now you decide to take some pictures and send it to your girlfriend.

All fine and dandy since nobody will really know your private life and you are still a respectable professional in your branch. Now imagine you break up and she sends all your pictures to your clients.

What the hell do you think will happen? Nowhere in the world would the reaction be "Oh, it's cool, I will still trust and respect this guy".

Hell no, those things belong inside the bedroom and should not be shared.

    Exactly.
I don't get why for example a video of you doing something perfectly normal could cause damage to you, but apparently this is the case. Society is fucked up.

this is what im talking about, society's view of sex is the problem, not the pictures

until society stops acting as if sex should be taboo, it's always going to be an issue for ppl

So removing taboo will suddenly stop sexual abuse both verbally and potential physically due to these sites
