I think it's getting better, at least here in Sweden. Everything else is going down the drain though
People love the perception that they're living in some form of strife, even though they may not be. That's why, no matter how utopian (relatively) things get, there will be people convinced that they're getting the short end of the proverbial stick.
In other news, if the sexes were reversed in this commercial:
You'd see pickets against this company all over social media stating that they're glamorizing lechery, promoting rape, objectifying women, etc etc. Definitely makes me chuckle.
Not necessarily. If rising complexity continues occurring in humans, we could become more homogenous relative to eachother overtime, reducing the need for more complex social nuance. The current concept of diversity is highly politicized and doesn't functionally mean very much.
I loved the Resident Evil movies too. I loved Milla Jovovich's portrayal.
I haven't seen Sucker Punch (not because of what you think, it has just escaped me)
An action film with all-female cast is okay, as long as they're not trying to replace every, single, god, damned male of the same franchise with the impeccable timing that it has happened to date. With all the shit-stirring going on in social media and the "femi-nazism/#blacklivesmatter/lgbt rights" their timing couldn't be more spot on. It's the forcing I'm against, not the actual act of making change
. Oh and also, men are stronger physically than women, and before you take this on, Rhonda Rousey would beat me to a pulp without even flinching. If you had an all-female cast in Expendables 1-2 and even 3 vs their actual opponents, it'd be outright silly for obvious reasons. Strength and real life physics come to mind here.
I'm not even sure we're debating the same thing on some points. I'm for, and I endorse a full-female cast in movies. It's fucking amazing if they pull it off and go straight to the top #box office. I'd be thrilled. But with the timing they've had, in this particular era of things, it feels forced. I don't and never said I felt attacked either, that was someone elses conclusion.
Why change the Doctor in Doctor Who into a female? That'd be fucking weird. Imagine there are two married time-lords. One of them is a guy, the other is a girl. All of a sudden, the wife turns into a man. Do you see the error here? He shouldn't be able to be a woman because it's a two-way street.
What you can do on the other hand is give the Doctor a companion that transforms into something else. A second River Song, but more involved.
I don't oppose the changes, I oppose the way they're implemented with such aggression. Joss Whedon has nothing on this thread. I've explained that numerous times. I'm all for a fantastic four with a black torch. But it's all coming in a massive wave. Everything changes in an instant. Don't tell me it's because well... "Just cause", I'd more say that Social media, feminists, pro-lgbt and everything that comes along with it has a leverage, and that is to rip arses open over the "This movie was so sexist, racist, x-phobic". They're the ones who go up in arms over it, not me for pointing out that it's blatantly obvious.
It'll end when people stop allowing themselves to be silenced by the name-callers.
In society we allow bigger organization to lead us, due to direct democracy type of involvement being inefficient. Basically whichever political force is better able to bully those big organizations to fear them more wins.
The caveat is that you can't be inherently against the very organizations you want to back you. Which is where liberals are hitting a roadblock now.

You better read European history one more time then. Especially late 19th, early 20th century. Right-wing ideologies, especially nationalism is on the rise in entire world.
I hardly ever see people calling each other racist IRL, however, in this forum, most call-outs are accurate.

Really? The best examples of your complaint that you can come up with is an all female Ghostbuster? Or a female Thor (which is admittedly a bit dumb, considering the identity of the character is the Son of Odin, but again it's a comic)? Or a black or female Doctor?
Those are silly a dumb complaints.
Want to complain about something? Complain about the double standard around sexual relations when alcohol is involved. Complain about the biased marital and parental laws. Complain about the lack of access to mental health services for men, the double standard around the treatment of male and female prisoners, the lack of support for male victims of sex crimes and domestic violence etc.
There's plenty to complain about.
A female superhero, or TV character is not one of them.

Or they wouldn't really care because they are fucking Time Lords who change form, age and even personality on a regular basis. If they fall in love with each other, and that relationship would carry over from incarnation to incarnation, I doubt what they fell in love with is one specific set of genitalia.
How exactly are you being silenced? You seem to have no problem putting your opinion wherever you want it.

Everyone remember Mr Popo turning blue because 4Kids(chan) decided it best not to have a black character? All this racism stuff is a retaliation of that! LOL
"Creating a world without Yuno would be meaningless."
I think the people that cry about not being able to say offensive shit, are just incapable of thinking before they speak. People make mistakes and may say something offensive without realizing it, but if it happens to you on numerous occasions, then you are probably the problem. Is it really that hard to not be offensive?
It will never end and it existed long before you suppose it started.
You think I can go back to Marietta and say that southerners are uneducated? How about tjDarkWingDuck posting his Jaguar only to get the majority of people, including the anti-PC, down his throat? People have always been offended by something just as you are now.
Celebrities and before them royalty experienced living in a fishbowl. Everyone was looking at them examining their every word, their every movement and if they did something wrong, the masses gossiped about them and complained. As is today, if these people say something about minorities, women, whoever, it's big news.
So this phenomena is very old.
Nowadays, you make a post or a video, somebody or some group doesn't like what was said and suddenly you're in the fishbowl. Everyone is looking at you and judging what you say and do. Fortunately for us commoners, we're soon forgotten.

"This will be a fight against overwhelming odds from which survival cannot be expected. We will do what damage we can."
-- Capt. Copeland
We live in a generation of people who are not only offended by more than previous generations, but also feel these self-entitled urges to do something about it. If we spent less time addressing minor insults to our egos or whatever and more time dealing with REAL WORLD ISSUES the entire world would be a much better place.
Stephen Fry summed it up nicely: “It's now very common to hear people say, 'I'm rather offended by that.' As if that gives them certain rights. It's actually nothing more... than a whine. 'I find that offensive.' It has no meaning; it has no purpose; it has no reason to be respected as a phrase. 'I am offended by that.' Well, so fucking what."
Welcome to a world where extremism is the norm. Don't worry though, once the liberals have had their say, the right will make a comeback! WW3 here we come!
