History will have to record that the greatest tragedy of this period of social transition was not the strident clamor of the bad people, but the appalling silence of the good people - Martin Luther King, Jr.
From the #1 Cata review on Amazon.com: "Blizzard's greatest misstep was blaming players instead of admitting their mistakes.
They've convinced half of the population that the other half are unskilled whiners, causing a permanent rift in the community."
I wouldn't say that I want dailys, but they're not anything I would have complained about. I just like the old way better. The new ones put me to sleep. I would very much prefer to grind mobs or run dungeons and raids for rep. It would be a better game if they gave us some choices. I don't think my way or the highway game design has been working very well.

Like your staged screen shots in the other thread? Still can't stand that you and the developers lost this fight can you?
The anti-flight confederacy will rise again!!!!!!!!!
-=From the moment I understood the weakness of my flesh, it disgusted me. I craved the strength and certainty of steel. I aspired to the purity of the blessed machine. Your kind claimed your flesh as if it will not decay and fail you. One day the crude biomass that you call a temple will wither, and you will beg my kind to save you... But I am already saved..... For the machine is immortal=-
So what? I have a job too. Your argument was that the content is bad because it's not fun, and that gating flying is because it's not fun. That argument is incorrect. If you want the reward, you have to put forth the effort to obtain it. If you don't want to put forth the effort to get the reward, that's your choice. But it doesn't make the effort a bad effort just because you don't like it.
What was different about the old dailies, then? In BC, you had to do things like the bombing run in Og'rila. That was just "bomb x many guys, and x many of this, and x many of that". The Quel'Danis dailies were "go kill x number of these guys, and turn in x number of crystals". Wrath's dailies, Cata's dailies, MoPs dailies... All the same thing. All you're doing is filling up a bar. The difference is, you never saw the bar.
And it's funny how much the community has changed since Vanilla. Those of us who were there for the AQ war effort stuff didn't have this attitude. We went and did them. And there was a whole raid zone gated behind that, not something as trivial and meaningless as flight. You couldn't open AQ without filling the war effort quest bar. And that literally was "go get x number of this stuff and bring it back to Ironforge/wherever the Horde one was". And we enjoyed it.
Nah, it is a totally blinkered on view on how to get flying. Flying is meant to be a fun thing, why make the means to obtain it unfun for some of your players? Why put it behind rep grinds that your pvp players dont care about, why put it behind treasure hunting that your raiders dont care about, why not make the fun elements of your game more accessible to all, and make fun ways of obtaining the fun things for all different game modes? Not many people have a problem earning flight, but at least make it relevant to their style of gameplay. 100 bg and/or arena wins for example, 50 raid boss kills, 30k gold, pathfinder and whatever other methods should all be valid.
Why does it matter how the player unlocks flying if they have fun doing it?
This is just a continuation of Blizz defining what is fun.
"These so called speed humps are a joke. If anything, they slow you down. "
Because there was little else to do, and was the content!
Now we have everything from pet battles to even an extensive Dark Moon Faire. Everything has be supersized or expanded, to where keeping up with it would now take specialization.
When did a game become like medicine of 4 years of college; 4 years of med school; and 4 years of residency just to practice?

I wonder what the ratio is, of people who are calling Lore "arrogant" and claiming his logic is crap yet tell people who prefer no flying for a while to "just don't fly", compared to those who only say one or the other of those statements because can see the hypocrisy of saying both?
Lore said something incredibly stupid and deliberately misleading.
This is not new, exciting or surprising. Blizzard prides itself, it seems, on being assholes to their customers. You'd think losing half their players in six months would be a wake up call to stop being assholes.
