i doubt many people on here have played it.
r.i.p. alleria. 1997-2017. blizzard ruined alleria forever. blizz assassinated alleria's character and appearance.
i will never forgive you for this blizzard.
I once spent 45 minutes running to Camelot on foot, then proceeded to explore the place and ended up finding a corner of a stairwell that would drop you into an entirely different part of Camelot. I think the highest level I got to was only 15 or so, but then again I was only 8 or 9 years old at the time.
There's quite a few people on here who played it, I see it mentioned in general somewhat regularly.
I loved it personally, will probably always remain in my top 3 MMO list unless the nostalgia value wears off. Time spent going between DAoC and Planetside was the pinnacle of my PvP experience .
Her hall is called Eljudnir,
her dish is Hunger,
her knife is Famine,
her slave is Lazy,
and Slothful is her woman servant.
My stepfather loved the hell out of DAoC. I never saw the appeal.
Heard of it; never played it. Has 3 factions? how does that work out?
Any character creation / race screenies to share?
Heard of it, never played it though. Wasn't there a kick starter by a bunch of the original devs a while back to make an mmo similar to it?
Its an open world PVP game with three warring factions and some decent PVE. Its the system GW2 copied for WvWvW (RvR).
Yes, I played it from 2001 until June 2003 when Star Wars Galaxies came out. DAoC was my EverQuest replacement. WoW took over for a long time after that and its a damn shame WH:O didn't pan out. :/
Still have my game cases, etc.
Tikki tikki tembo, Usagi no Yojimbo, chari bari ruchi pip peri pembo!
tried beta but didn't really catch me, stayed with Asheron's Call, CS and DotA
I have heard of it but I never played it. The first MMORPG I played and was addicted to was Ragnarok Online.
I played daoc for quite a few years, starting with the EU servers, but later on the US servers, after my guild collapsed, as they got all the good stuff first, and the ones running the EU servers were only getting worse at it. I was never that involved with the PvP side, always been more of a PvE player, but it's about the closest I got to enjoyable PvP. I have tried playing it more recently, but since playing other MMOs, the controls on daoc really feel clunky now...
I absolutely loved DAoC.
The realm vs realm was amazing fighting over keeps.
What I always liked is each realm had its own unique zones, races, and unique classes.
Never played it as i started MMOs with GW1 and WoW, but i'm familiar with the title. Part of the list of MMOs i never played that i wish i did like SWG, EQ etc

Young people and their concept of "old". Didn't we discuss DAoC like yesterday?
I really got into that game for a summer. Played a sorceror (huge CC class) and oddly enough, I only PvPed in that game like once or twice. Sorcs were really powerful in PvP because they had an AoE mez that lasted really long, so you could put a whole group to sleep while your team picked them off one by one. Very good in PvE too for large pack pulls. My favorite part of the class, though, was that they had a perma-charm spell that only worked on humanoids (PvE), so they were basically a pet class. But I believe you could charm something either of your level or two levels higher, and single mobs in that game were quite strong. So you could have a pet humanoid that actually had higher HP than you, or cast spells that hit as hard as yours. It was a very versatile and fun class.
I also had an alt on one of the other factions, it was of the champion class. Never got him very high, but they were fun at lower levels. Basically a two-hand single target melee specialist, moderate (chain) armor. I really wish I played that game a bit longer, but when the summer ended I had too much schoolwork (was in college) and then WoW came out shortly afterwards, so I got hooked on that.
Ornerybear, it is good to hear that you love DAOC.
