PvP gear in PvE raids?

I have had many folks want to raid in endgame progression in Hellfire Citadel, regular and heroic wearing all pvp gear including rings and trinkets. Can someone please clarify why this is a good/bad idea? What stat differences are there, vs healing problems etc...?

the only downsides is that the set bonuses rarely do much to increase hps/dps/survivability in a raid environment. and the trinkets are under-budgeted compared to pve items at the same ilvl.

But ilvl 700 is still ilvl 700. And unless you can replace your pvp gear with set items, they're just as good as pve items of the same ilvl.
