yes there is currently a few running but honestly they rarely get more than 3% of the vote. do you think the u.s. will ever be able to elect or get behind a socialist canidate in any significant amount? i personally don't think so because the country leans too far to the right going on to be able to even consider a socialist or left leaning canidate. even our "left" party is still on the right. what do you think?

I certainly hope not. Socialists everywhere have a strong urge to turn everything they touch into shit. All clad in the deceitful robes of "good intentions". And no, taking care of the poor is not a socialist idea; it's just their favorite excuse.

We're having an economical crisis here in Finland because over the years socialists have bloated the welfare system and the public sector ridiculously - and are refusing to cut or downsize anything even temporarily, even when it's apparent that the economy can't handle it any more. They would rather take more and more debt until everything comes crashing down.

And their immigration ideas are also more than mildly twisted; they are most fond of immigrants who don't work or assimilate, but instead cause lots of trouble and expenses that wouldn't exist without them. (Honest, well-integrating and working immigrants aren't acceptable; how would socialists get to show off how "tolerant" they are if there isn't anything completely retarded to tolerate?) In short, socialists have degenerated from a workman's rights party into any lazy but demanding dipshit's and criminal's biggest supporter.

If anything is ridiculously costly, dangerous and harmful to the society, economy, internal peace and the general morale, you can be certain that socialists are fully supporting it.

I very highly doubt it. Although if someone took many of the core principles of socialism and called it something else, maybe. Socialist is like a curse word here, politically speaking.

Not even the Gen X, but the Baby Boomers are so ingrained that "Socialism is bad!" that we're at a point in society where the rich own 90% of everything and the poor aren't even scraping by anymore.

Probably, forever is a long time. I don't think we'd have a socialist party in name for quite awhile though.

We are going to need to revisit some stronger socialist mechanisms to ensure our increasingly dense urban areas function better than they do now; it's my hope that more rural areas would be able to operate with less public intervention though as it's much less needed there. A strong socialist urban and industrial code, supported by a fairly libertarian rural code would, I think, function very cleanly.
