Hand Dryers

I believe Hand dryers should be banned. They are the most inefficient way to dry your hands first and foremost. It takes on average 3 to 5 minutes to dry your hands. Im going to post the pros and cons of hand dryers and you can add your own if you would like.

Personally, Ive begun boycotting any restaurant that does not provide a way to dry your hands other than a hand dryer. They only use hand dryers to pinch pennies which makes you wonder what else they are cutting corners on to save money (diluting soap, dish washer detergent, sanitizers, etc..) They claim they only use them to be environmentally friendly, but that is a bullshit PR reason. The real reason is they dont have to spend money to buy paper towels or pay a laundry service to wash the continuous feed cloth towels. They dont have to pay people to empty the trash, and they pay less for trash disposal. If it was environmentally friendly, they could buy 100% recycled paper towels (which also suck but not as bad).

Cons:

1. If you have to wait for 3 or more people to dry their hands your hands likely dry on their own while you wait in line to use one. (plus you wasted 15 minutes waiting to get out of the bathroom)
2. They are disease magnets. People use the bathroom and then push the button to start the dryer. (getting fecal bacteria all over them)
3. They are messy and cause slips and falls (people dripping water all over the floor waiting to use the dryer)
4. Restaurants that ONLY have hand dryers dont have paper towels that you can use to grab the sink handles and the door handle to open the door to get out of the restroom.
5. They likely are less "green" than paper towels as they require a lot of electricity to run and trees are planted specifically to make paper so we always have new trees. Also they could have those real towels that are a continuous loop that you pull down to expose a new part of the towel and dry your hands and they can be washed.
6. Many places have older ones which blow cold air out at first which then gets blazing hot a minute or 2 later causing skin to crack and split.


Pros:

1. None

Also waterless urinals need to be banned! They are so unsanitary and they always stink because you cant flush the piss down the drain. Outrageous!!

1. How are your hands air drying a con?
2. You wash your hands inbetween using the bathroom and pushing the button.
3. This sounds like 1.
4. Bathroom doors almost always have motion activated sinks and doors open out, if not, they probably have paper towel.
5. If trees were always planted like that, explain the rain forests. You have an issue with opening doors and using sinks but not using the same towel that everyone else used?
