Random predatory swiftness proc on pull

    Hey fellas.
I play feral and think ive got the spec pretty much under control, doing fairly good damage overall sometimes topping meters - but theres always room to improve.

I have noticed that once in a while i get a predatory swiftness proc during my opener before using my first finisher, allowing me to get a bloodtalon rip right away. I cant seem to figure out how to trigger this though, and i havent read about it in any guides openers. Anyone else experience this?

Ill try and see if i can find logs for it, but i cant remember by memory which attempts it is on because it happens so rarely.

    Kind regards, mukat

Found this info on Icy Veins, hope it helps.

You should hold on to your Predatory Swiftness Icon Predatory Swiftness proc until you have 4-5 Combo Points. Then, you can use your free Healing Touch Icon Healing Touch to trigger Bloodtalons. The Bloodtalons buff lasts 30 seconds, so once it is triggered, you have plenty of time to use it up. Since Predatory Swiftness only lasts 12 seconds, you can make things easier on yourself by casting finishers at high Energy when possible. This will allow you to immediately cast the abilities you need.

In AoE situations, you should instead use a Bloodtalons charge on Thrash Icon Thrash.

Yes, i've noticed it aswell. I just thought it was the Glyph of Savage Roar acting up. I just recently remade Feral spec so wasn't sure. It might be a bug with the glyph, even tho I havent tried if that is the cause.

Thank you for trying to help HawkeyeTA. I am familiar with pretty much every aspect of feral, raid mythic etc with quite good results. This particular situation seems to be a bug or perhaps just a clever use of abilities that i am not aware of.

This is what I suspected too. Almost as if the initial SR buff you get from rake is taken into predatory swiftness chance calculation. Even though there are no cps on the boss prior to the rake. Maybe that 0% chance you should have from a 0 CP finisher is somehow a number that when rounded down looks like 0, like 0.4% (but why would it?)..
Or perhaps the cp you get from the rake is actually taken into calculation for PS because of the SR you get, thus giving you a 20% chance?

Anyone else have an idea about this?

I don't really have any new information but I will say that I have noticed this as well. I'll try and consistently reproduce it later today.

is there a set bonus or interaction that lets pred. swiftness proc without using a finisher?

It has happened both in brf and hfc, with two diff set bonuses. I cannot find any official reason as to why, really.
    Alright Evermynd, sounds good

Have to say this sounds very plausible, try on dummies and just spam rake a few 100 times.

0 CP roars have a very low chance to proc PS for some reason. Bug has been in the game since MoP beta when Glyph of Savagery was added and even though that functionality was removed the behavior still exists from Glyph of Savage Roar procs.

It is definitely not a 20% chance, in practice its more like 1% or less but it is also possible that the bug only occurs under certain contrived circumstances and the chance is higher (even guaranteed).

So the conclusion must be that its a bug. Good to know The interesting part now is what the specific conditions are, and wether or not we can control this behaviour. This needs testing.

Thank you All for the replies. If anyone finds out more, it would be great if you posted it

Back in MoP when you could just spam 0 CP Savage Roars to your heart's content, I did a lot of that. There was definitely handfuls of times where I'd be out of combat, standing still, not interacting with anything, not gaining or losing buffs while spamming savage roar repeatedly. Very rarely you get a proc, even more rarely you could get 2 in a row, but none of it ever seemed to have anything to do with external factors. It still may not be entirely random, but I'm pretty confident it isn't based on any condition available to the player (maybe some timing component on the server side have to do with server load or something).

Just thought i'd chip in again since I now have some logs from our raid tonight on Fel Lord Zakuun from a try where I got the buff randomly early. It only happened twice, which seems like a regular occurence, during the three hours our raid night lasts.
