Well, first of all, the Moon is only 14% larger when at it's perigee, as opposed to it's apogee. Those are the farthest and closest points on it's orbit. However, that 14% is a comparison of the extremes, so you really might not even notice the size difference from day to day.

Secondly, the Moon's size in the sky is dependent on how close to the horizon it is. That's why there are those pictures with an insanely large Moon in the sky; it's just an illusion though.
The thing you would have noticed about the eclipse would have been the blood red color. Other than that, not much difference to a typical full moon.

It was overcast here so I missed the moon itself. Although it did reflect onto the clouds casting the eerie red color when it was dark.
