Dry fried ribs from the rickshaw in Pinole or a carne asada super burrito from Chavez meat market in Hayward. I have tried burritos from almost every truck and hole in the wall in the bay area and Chavez meat market is by far the best anywhere.

Maurice Bessinger, BBQ baron and unrepentant racist, dies

    What a headline, lol!

While I cannot attest to Maurice Bessinger's present whereabouts, I feel fairly confident that if the recently deceased Piggie Park baron and unrepentant racist had ended up in the bowels of hell, Satan and his minions would slather his body in mustard-based BBQ sauce before they dined — not because the yellow stuff is the best, but simply because it would be the poetic choice.

Whatever I can fit in a to-go box from work.

Yesterday, it was smoked chicken, mac and cheese, spinach, pickled red onions, bacon crumbles, and toast. We call it the Shame Bowl.

Either a homemade Lasagna with salad and a beer, or Fårikål, literally translates to "Sheepincabbage", and tastes like heaven on a platter.

weird. I just had a special last weekend, chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, green beans sauteed in butter, garlic and thyme, and white gravy. Not really creative, but whatever, it's good.

With potatoes! Can't forget those. And we also have Haggis beat in Smalahove. Because when you only have one or two sheep to make food off for the winter, you use all the edible bits.

Comfort food doesn't have to be creative.
