    Blizzcon - Engineering Panel
While we don't have the Blizzcon schedule just yet, we now know there will be an engineering panel this year! We rarely hear official things about engineering outside of the very rare Engineer's Workshop blog post, so this should be a nice opportunity for players interested in the technical aspects of the game to get some more information!

Patch 6.2.2 Hotfixes - The Frozen Halls
It seems that most of the loot from Pit of Saron and some of The Frozen Halls zone drops had their sell price reduced by 90%, along with the removal of sockets (but not the socket bonus) from some items like Polished Mirror Helm.

It's tough. The two at the end of the day aren't all that different. But it's not as is if all players speak with one voice. (OccupyGStreet)
And at times players think they're perfectly happy with what they have but get excited about something they didn't expect. (OccupyGStreet)

Blaming your customers for your bad product is a terrible, terrible way to do business.
I think the point is more that communicating with players (esp. angry ones) isn't really the product. (OccupyGStreet)
Engaging with players can be important and valuable but at the end of the day that isn't the game. (OccupyGStreet)
And yet the developer narrative holds the players at fault for the performance of the actual product.
Product failures are always the fault of the product team. I don't hear any blaming the customer here. (OccupyGStreet)

Reducing vendor value and sockets on nearly 5 year old gear? Why?

They are "fixing" people botting those instances...

    ...Blizzard Style.

Wtf, changing WotLK gear. No wonder these guys get nothing done...

  6. #6
I guess that's the new bot hot spot?

    Lame.

Engineering panel, neat. How about some hardware porn figures? What sort of hardware do they use these days?

Which takes maybe an hour of coding to change some numbers around. Its not as if they've redesigned the instances, its a very minor fix for some kind of issue (probably related to gold farming).

Blizzard gets a LOT done. You just don't see it until its finished and comes out in one big chunk.

I hate it when they nerf the gold in old instances. Why not ban the botters instead of killing the fun for everyone else?

Lowering the sell price, makes sense. Removing sockets? I...don't get it. Anyone know why they'd do that? Timewalking scaling exploit or something?

Marco Koegler have been my favorite developer for years.
The things I enjoyed the most in MoP came from his area.
Frack Blizzard if it isn't in the Virtual Ticket.

now they can tell us more on bigger backpacks and better mail system

Does your fun consist of vendoring gear you farmed in Pit of Saron?

Not really, but it does come from farming the Cataclysm raids, that will probably be next.

Sockets = higher item budget = means it vendors for more.

I was worried about that for a second as well, but I doubt it will be as severe as this nerf, if it does ever come. You can only run raids once a week, whereas you can run 5-mans almost infinitely. For a botter, a raid would be a much less ideal way to farm gold.

  17. #17
yeah makes sense they nerfed the gold farming in the LK instances but why remove the sockets? doesn't make sense...unless they're starting to expand timeless dungeons

nevermind, just found out out sockets add to the amount of gold the item is worth.

  18. #18
Well I guess the side gold made while farming battered hilts had gone to hell now. Though i usually did not kill bosses which drop most of this gear but some were random drops in the dungeons. Those instances were nice income if you were making a herald toon or helping someone make one because anything that could not be used would be vendored and made it worth your time. But as usual botters ruin things for the rest of us, nerf to multiboxing and now this.

I was expecting them to say "We're removing the Engineering profession completely. Sorry about that folks" but then I realized its about game engine/server stuff.
