Thoughts on my build plans (gaming and media creation)

ok guys I'm new at this so bare with me, the build is meant to last and be upgrade as time goes on.
This is going to be not just my battle station, but my media creation machine (digital art, photography, possible 3D modeling)

I'm still on the fence with my monitor choice, may need some help deciding. I was wanting to get the ASUS RoG Swift PG278Q 1440p 144hz 27in, but, this price is redonkulous.

    My budget is around 1700us.

I have both storage devices already in my possession, a monitor isn't a main priority it can come later, and I have found windows 7 much cheaper on Ebay.

    Intel Core i7-6700K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor $359.99

Deepcool CAPTAIN 360 273.4 CFM Fluid Dynamic Bearing Liquid CPU Cooler $130.98

Asus MAXIMUS VIII HERO ATX LGA1151 Motherboard $209.99

    Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (4 x 4GB) DDR4-3000 Memory $159.99

    Samsung 850 EVO-Series 500GB 2.5" Solid State Drive $172.49

    Seagate 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Hybrid Internal Hard Drive $92.89

EVGA GeForce GTX 980 4GB Superclocked ACX 2.0 Video Card $497.99

Phanteks Enthoo Luxe ATX Full Tower Case $149.99

EVGA 1050W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply $109.99

    Asus BW-12B1ST/BLK/G/AS Blu-Ray/DVD/CD Writer $57.89

    Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 OEM (64-bit) $86.75

    Asus VG278HE 144Hz 27.0" Monitor $353.12

I've done some research and came up with to builds. I'm willing to spend 1700-1800 on the tower, though I still have some questions.

does it really matter if I have a WS motherboard for media production?

for the price should I go for 390x or jump for the 980ti?

I obtained a Corsair AX750 power supply from a friend, should I integrate it or buy a new power supply?

The "ws" is a gimmick, there are others that are even better without the ws up there. Rated to work 1.2M hours? eh? Sure it will work for 140years... I am not saying its a bad board but don't make your decision on marketing crap.

Go with what you want for the gpu. Personally i would get the 980ti if money was not a concern, its more powerful anyway. 390x is another 290X with different badge, its not new tec like fury.

If the psu isn't old and/or hasn't seen many working hours sure. But if its like 5-6years old i would rather not, you spend 1.8k for the tower alone...just buy a new one...
