Canadian inventor tests new prototype of record-setting hoverboard

Duru flew up to five metres above a lake for a distance of 275.9 metres aboard his homemade, propeller-powered hoverboard in a trip that lasted more than 1½ minutes.

This is pretty cool. Hopefully this thing makes it to production.

I don't think hover tech is going to be consumer ready until we find ways to make it idiot resistant and fault-resistant. Magnets or high temperature superconductors or something of that sort... To where they physically cannot just fall out of the sky and kill people due to user error or malfunction.

This is pretty much the problem with all consumer-level flight. Cars are dangerous enough as it is... flight is just ridiculously worse.
