This is absolute bullshit. We're not just talking imminent domain here - this is the government coming in out of the blue and just declaring, "yeah, we know this has been your land for over 70 years, but fuck off, it's ours now." Land of the free indeed. Looks like the BLM has been taken over by communists. I hope the ranchers have guns, because this is an instance where defending one's property against unlawful seizure is completely justified and why the 2nd Amendment was created in the first place.

While a militia is one reason to preserve the rights of the citizens to keep arms, the primary purpose of the Second Amendment is to preserve the right of the common citizen to keep and bear arms. If the sole intention was for a militia to be maintained, then that's all that the Second Amendment would say. The intent was to prevent the government from becoming just like the British government they had just overthrown. The intention was to allow the citizens to fight back if things went to hell and the government went all totalitarian on us.

Anyone who seriously buys and spreads that bullshit that guns are only for militias fails at reading comprehension.

Guns won't protect you from a government that has full military force. And the second amendment was made during a time of a foriegn nation invading and we had to protect ourselves and the *guns* back then took forever to use(Muskets). It might of worked back then as they are now but times have changed. I'm pointing out the second amendment CAN be regulated.

Against an individual, you are correct, wouldn't do him much good against the government.

Against even 5% of the civilian population of the United States, the US Military wouldn't stand a chance as they would effectively be out manned, out gunned, and lost the majority of their own support which is provided by the civilian sector. That isn't even going into the fact of just how many military would either lay their guns down or change sides when forced to fight their own people.
